Nokian WR A3s in the garage, freshly repainted winter wheels drying on the dining room table and lidl has the screen wash back in.

The Starks are always right in the end... hehe

Just ordered some nankang sv's. Will be much better in the cold conditions than the current cheapo summers that came with the car.

It's baby steps at the moment, but the charts are really starting to hint at the right synoptics for a potentially cold and snowy start to winter...

I think he's just being optimistic though, smile Still not really minus temperatures over here, as well as forecast for the next week. So if we don't have it then you can't get it either, wink

I've been watching the capital reports for a few weeks, there's been a bit of cold weather floating around, Moscow has had some very cold days, Oslo, Helsinki, Riga etc. have had some intermittent cooler weather........ so it certainly seems unlikely that our winter will be as mild as last.

The forecast was for 'heavy mountain snow'. So I was a bit surprised to look out the window and see a blizzard...

Only lasted an hour, maybe ~1", melting already.

Frost here in Lincs too, although it was easy to scrape off.

Car showed 0 - 1 degrees on the way in to work. Cold, wet and muddy roads. Winter is on the way.

Glad I have the winter boots on the car now. Lots of grip this morning. smile

Apparently down to -3 on the river in Henley last night, certainly plenty of frost around and chilly this morning.

Frost on the car this morning (Somerset). Was 0C when I got in the car and went as low as -1C on the way to work through the lanes. By 9am, it was 3C though.

Winter is coming...

Very messy charts in to December at the moment, and with little agreement. Good chance of high pressure over Scandinavia sitting in place and finally bringing some deep cold in to the Continent. We need that, as that can then feed cold in to us. Nothing snowy will happen in the UK for a while yet.

One thing is for certain, the odds of a wet/windy/mild winter are far lower than last year. Very different setup.

Solihull this morning;

Car doors were frozen shut. And, no, neither had been washed over the weekend!
I had that as well in Reading. Think it was due to the copious rain over the weekend not having dried out before the frost hit causing a thicker frost than the temperature reached (1c) would normally warrant frown Had to spray de-icer round the door to get it open.

Silicone spray/lubricant - lightly spray it on the rubber seals and it prevents doors freezing shut as it displaces moisture (some people use Vaseline but this will rot the seals so is best avoided).

Had to de-ice my car this morning for the first time in ages… it might be a bit sad but I quite enjoyed doing it after the horrible mild winter we had last time.

On a similar note, rain-x makes de-icing the front screen a lot easier.

I'm driving a turbo, RWD saloon with a 2 way LSD along with a £300 1.0 Polo that is hanging together this winter. For the first time in a long time, I'm hoping for no snow, which means we'll get a ton.
