I'm driving a turbo, RWD saloon with a 2 way LSD along with a £300 1.0 Polo that is hanging together this winter. For the first time in a long time, I'm hoping for no snow, which means we'll get a ton.
A few years ago during a heavy snow storm on a night shift, the management had made arrangement to have the car park cleared with a snow plow, all the cars had to be moved, every car had to be dug out and pushed free, all except my polo, my friend who was helping move the cars said he just got in it and drove it out of the snow, everybody was amazed, I put it down to the thin tyres and a lack of power, so don't be to hard on the little polo,it may just surprise you.

You know I'm doing me best to hate it but I can't. I bought it off a Canadian guy on Gumtree because I had no car for a week after I sold my 8 series and figured it would be cheaper than a hire car even if it blew up after a few days.

133,000 miles and it still returns 42mpg. Going to need to get the handbrake tightened if the snow does look imminent though.

On a similar note, rain-x makes de-icing the front screen a lot easier.
I find it's smeary at low temperatures.

One thing is for certain, the odds of a wet/windy/mild winter are far lower than last year. Very different setup.
And for a bonus oil is cheap (relatively) at the moment woohoo

Looking at the info coming through, there does seem some consensus on a cooling down of Europe over the first week of December, and that's likely to include the UK. Too early to call snow, but chances improving (from zero)

I'd always wondered about RainX - seems to have mixed reviews in the cold.

Around 8C in Stavanger today. Looking forward to getting back to the north on Thursday, but don't think we have any snow forecast there either, frown

We didn't even reach 7 on the South Coast of England today, been so mild for so long here, it was probably our coldest max for almost a year.

I think this post helps to prove why, despite a recent wet couple of days in the south, that the weather patterns are very different to last year.

Set to get colder here in Munich over the next week but not much snow in the offing (plenty 50 miles South though)
