I'm assuming from your lack of pictures that the snow didn't arrive around the coast? wink

It got to about 500 metres, but melts near the sea - air temp here (as I type) is +5

You've seen snow - I haven't for over a year and a half (in the UK!)
This is true, very pretty whilst it lasted.

Well you'd be wrong!

Currently snowing like mad in Rossendale & it's sticking....

We're 1000ft up at the top of a valley / edge of the Pennines.

Can anyone remember where I put my snow shovel? If it carries on I'm going to need it in the morningrage
Sharneyford way by any chance?
Not a million miles - Bacup. Sharneyford I'd imagine to be much worse - we went over to Todmorden today & it was snowy up on the tops at midday.
Oh right. With you saying "top" of the valley I thought you meant higher up smile

Many many years ago a former gf used to live over the other side of the Pennines so I spent quite a few Friday evenings driving over the road from Bacup to Todmorden. A great road for a mini-hoon biglaugh

We're about the same height as Sharneyford but not quite as exposed. The road from Bacup to Tod is now awful - everyone keeps digging it up & there are ruts everywhere & I can't remember the last time I went up there when there wasn't traffic lights. Bacup to Burnley is still good for a blast thoughsmile

I came razzing over there on my Agusta F4 a few weeks ago - fk me I thought I was going to get thrown off the bike. I don't recall a bumpier road. The bends are awful too with all the corrugations.

It's normally around 0.5C per 100m, so I guess it won't stay around too long then, frown Maybe have to leave the skis here after all.

There is a SHED load more snow inland. Out here on the fringe it doesn't stay around too long.

Went to work at stoopid o'clock this morning and while having breakfast watched a gritter go past in the teaming rain. Went out at 8 for a butty run at Greggs and could see snow on the Pennines and Pendle Hill (which was nice), and it had got colder.

About 1pm it started to snow, but as the groud was wet it didn't do much (not that there was much snow anyway), just seen another gritter while on the way home, and it definately is a lot colder than it was 12 hours ago.

So Pug, Give us some good news. What's the likelihood of snow in Windsor before the end of the year?

Much higher than last year...

Small chance next weekend when there's another cooler set of weather due.

Christmas is now appearing on the forecasts and some of them are enticing - but as usual way too far out to trust. None of them show the UK entering the freezer like 2010 period.

Lots of very clever people still getting excited about a proper wintry period starting between Xmas and NY - of course they are reading almost invisible signs on the verge of human understanding. Time will tell!

Looking at the GFS runs it's going to be pretty uninspiring for the snow lover for the next 2 weeks.

Anyone know if I'll find snow in the Peak District tomorrow? I live near Worksop/Mansfield so want to find some snow.
