Should I take my skis back to the UK on Friday? I'll be there until the 28th (near Glenshee).
Yes. There should be some excellent snow cover there (the snow gates were shut this morning)

Scotland has had some great ski conditions over the last few years. This year could be even better.

Meanwhile, the Alps face a terrible winter.

Champoluc has 1.3 ms with patchy heavy snow forecast. I'm off in three weeks. smile

When you get excited... I do too, you're only down the road from me.

Is this knife edge but nice to think about stuff, or is it actually starting to look likely?

I refuse to get excited until I actually see the white stuff falling from the sky.

At least...I'll try to not get excited. In reality I'm already shouting "snow!" in my head.

Neither really, but edging towards the latter.

The charts are screaming 'dead-certain snow' - but they are still outside the reliable time frame.

A cautionary warning. The Rayburn is still working perfectly.

However, my Land Rover goes off the road tomorrow to get a hot start problem fixed. His mechanic is under strict instructions to get it fixed by Christmas, though.

The final model is on board - confidence must be high. We've been here before though.

If it comes off this won't be a 'Beast from East' scenario but a raw Arctic blast with a low pressure coming from the NE. Potential for huge snowfall and at least a week of proper cold.

Comparisons to Dec 81 are being made - but I was living in France so don't recall!

It's looking good - let's wait and see!

As we've seen in previous years, this time of year, that nearly always predicts snow far out. It's worse than useless. Vanishes like a mirage as the time approaches.

Net weather seems to have gone way off boil recently with accuracy, last few years it killed the MET for my location, often 5-8C out these days and predicting non-existent rain.

Indeed, but it's only a bit of fun, that's far too far out to be taken seriously.

Can you make your minds up ASAP? Monday is the last day that I can get my winters fitted until after the New Year.

Thanking you.

Get your winter tyres fitted.

Forecasting a week away or more is about model trends and not exact details and the trends for all of the models are definitely increasing the probability of cold and possible snow over Christmas and the New Year.
