I'm off to the MiL's this evening and have just the temperatures. Snow predicted for Saturday evening into Sunday morning. Should be around 6 tomorrow and then dropping quickly until the snow comes. Fingers crossed!

The way people drive in this country when snow is about , coupled with the extra numbers of travellers, makes me somewhat pleased it's no t going to snow before Christmas.

I'm 10 yards from the sea... (Loch Torridon) but it's stopped now and we have a stunning clear sky

Weather here today typical of what we've had for the last week or so - grey and cold with a keen SW wind (which seems to have a proper edge to it, unusually). Trooped down to the beach with the kids and took few pics - yes western europe mid-winter. Lovely.

Forecast for Christmas day and Boxing day - bright and breezy Christmas day, Boxing day looks very good in fact, bright with no wind. After that however...

Why do you build me up
Puggit baby
Just to let me down
And mess me around
And then worst of all
It never snows baby when you say it will
But I love you still

Excellent. I've had two grey ones as well. Crazy mad, the lot of 'em. Combining these two bits of thread, they used to sleep in our garden overnight (from choice... dog flap) and when it snowed, we'd find two green circles in the snow where they had slept. Current one is a wuss, so sleeps inside, though he spends all day every day in the garden, pretending he's working by barking at seagulls.

It's really looking like a knife edge for Saturday here now.

Predicting 12mm precipitation with daytime temps of between 0 - 2c.... So maybe snow, maybe sleet, maybe rain.

I'm getting excited.
Last night was showing snow across the UK for Sat/Sun, but now it looks like you might have stolen it - tread carefully irked

Chances of an easterly are increasing...

Very cold air looks set to reach South Eastern parts over next week. How long it lasts is still up for grabs.

Well spotted Alex...

The track of the low pressure on 27th/28th is still not certain. The models are downgrading it slightly, so it's not as bad - it may not bomb. This also means it's less likely to bring snow frown

However, the trend is building for (drumroll): High pressure over Scandinavia and that means...

I'm so disheartened by the climb down on the post Xmas weather that I'm not building up my hopes this time!
