After 8 hours in the car driving home, my wife and daughter are about ready to kill me after inventing this game (although no doubt someone's thought of it before)

I'll start you off with....

Johnny Dieppe

I wasn't allowed Dolly Barton-(Stacy)

And they don't sound "almost" like places, they are places. But apart from that, spot on.

David Essex is a trained actor. His early career was on the stage in London - before he became a pop star. He also appeared in a number of films - not all singing roles.

Burt Lancaster
Michael/Kirk Douglas
Julie London (she appeared in a few films)
Elsa Lanchester
Sylvia Sydney
Susannah York
Michael York

I don't think you've understood the game.

The clue is in the word "almost".

OK - Bjork then. She sounds like York and was in a film.

She also sounds like Cork. Do I get two points for that?

Colin Firth - sounds like Firth of Forth.

Hayley Berry - sounds like Kerry.

Alexei Sayle - sound like Sale (as in Sale Rugby Club)

Paris Hilton.

OK, not so much an actress, but I've definitely seen her in a film.
