When do you start making money?
I 'monetized' my vids, and one has 8k views. Is that worth anything?

I have a few vids on Youtube and have around 320,000 hits in total. I've made around £250. Every so often I get £70 paid into the bank which is just a nice surprise....
How does it work? My son has a YouTube account with 1.5 million views (and that was about 6 months ago) and its monetised. He has not recieved a penny!

My boy is addicted to BluCollection. We have to limit it as best we can. His withdrawal symptoms are tantrums, tears and stomping.

Even if you "skip" the video, does the user still get paid?

Am I missing a trick? I just looked up my channel & have 225,000 views over its lifetime & not a copper coin has found its way to me.

Think so... Believe you need to set it up, no idea how though?

I think it might be this lad he's on about: https://www.youtube.com/user/wroetoshaw

He puts about 7 videos up a week, getting about 1 and a half to 2 million views per video so its not impossible that he could get an amount close to that per week, bearing in mind that it also depends on how many "likes" you get per video also.
Jesus Christ. There really is no hope is there? frown

There's a lad local to me who I am reliably informed from a number of sources is earning up to £10k per week and has done for the last year, simply by filming himself throwing his PS3 controller across the room every time he dies in modern warfare whatever. Oh, and he's 17 years old.
Sounds legit! laugh

That account isn't making £10k a week.

A lad local to me (well living in Guernsey.) is making money from his youtube vid's. But unfortunately his taste vehicle looks isn't the best. He bought a Range Rover Evoque and got it chrome wrapped. Nice car, now looks vile.

You need to monetize your YouTube account so that Google Ads (AdSense?) can be played or a banner ad can be put on your videos and you'll then get a fee for each view or click on the ad.

Once you have a certain amount in your account you can start to withdraw. My friend has done some flight sim videos and pc build stuff and got around £400 in his account from many many thousands of views and has 4,000 subscribers.

Vine has been mentioned on here and it's now pretty big. Jerome Jarre I think is the most followed with over 6 million. They earn by product placement and adverts in some of their videos and some are 'performers' so do shows and use Vine to gain popularity and promote themselves.

My son likes watching EvanTubeHD to see what toys and Lego is new. The videos are very good actually and I often watch them with him.

Have you monetised them? Also, if you don't own the IP I don't think you can monetise them.

That doesn't sound good he should be coining it in !! Double check all your settings..... I have a bank account that never has more than a couple of hundred quid in it that I use for ebay / youtube etc.

It was some time ago but I just followed the instructions on how to monetise your vids. It's interesting because you can have a pretty detailed breakdown of who / where etc are watching what vids.

When the payment threshold reaches about £70 it's paid directly into the bank account you have setup.

If you monetised that vid right from the start and looking at my earnings you should have made £500+ so I would say it's worth spending some time tracking down why it's not working ....
