The link between a pencil and a cassette tape. Or the annoyance of the tape player chewing up your one tape that you'd been given for Christmas a few days before irked

Sending any kind of letter/document by post will probably be phased out.

Not sure if it is in the UK already, but the Commonwealth Bank here has just started a service where you don't need a card to get cash out of an ATM. I think it uses the App on the phone (you can probably tell I haven't tried it).
yeah, Nat West have been doing that for a while, via their Android app.

I'm nearly 50 and I've never used it either. I've never even seen one.

Anaglyph 3d glasses.

With advancing technology in both active and passive steroscopic 3d technology - I reckon it wont belong before 3d anaglyphs are redundant even in printed or static media.

Well I just turned 50 this year and used one for about 15 years when I started work. Whilst they wern't specific to my industry (shipping) they were quite common.

This was the baby!

Pfft. We had one with a punched tape feed, so you could send the same telex to many different suppliers/customers without having to re-type each time.

Disagree.

Presumably you think wireless will take over. Wireless is by nature broadcast, and consequently has physical limits. Ethernet, not so much.
I've already been using 10gbit ethernet at work for ages (40gbit and 100gbit are also in the works - 40 in particular already in use in various places).

Nope, not for quite some time yet whilst there are so many who require 'wet ink' documents.

Lots of tins come with a ringpull these days, I guess that's what's meant?

True - but this subject isn't about what is technically still in use.

5 1/2 inch floppy disks are still in use in niche areas - but show one to your average spotty teen - and they probably won't have a clue.

It's the same with most of the suggestions on here. The criteria isn't that such things will be absolutely obsolete and unused in 15 years - just that your average kid won't know about or have ever used one.

Ours saved the last ten or so messages!

Using a tape feed, I guess you are somewhat older than me! smile

My 12 year old daughter's moaning she doesn't have a mobile phone yet! I told her I had to wait for them to be invented, and THEN had to pay the bill myself....I was already in my 20s by then. wink

Records: I've some original Bowie stuff, unmarked, from the late 60s-early 70s. My kids laugh at those "big clunky things", but only just know how a CD player works.

For the future, and not even too distant, the "Johnny Cabs" we saw in the original 'Total Recall', must be on their way. Driverless cars are already.

In our house, at least, I'm sure the children don't know how food's prepared and cooked. My wife's too bloody soft!
