I fekin' hate Christmas as well, last one I spent on me own in a stty hotel.
The last few years I've spent the Christmas period alone in another country sitting in the sunshine on a warm beach. So much better than enduring the enforced jolities of here and rather liberating to return to Gatwick in the New Year with all that crap finished with.Alas work came up during the Christmas/New Year break. Maybe this year.
I also dislike birthdays. Some presents and a meal out is very nice and I'm grateful, but I hate all the hassle and attention that goes with it. It doesn't help that my birthday comes two days after my mother's. There's not much I really want either. All I can think of is a car, driving lessons and a drape jacket, and I obviously won't get the first one. There's not a lot to do in November anyway, but spending my birthday weekend at the Regent Street Motor Show and Veteran Car Run suits me.
Christmas is the same, I can't be doing with all the fuss. I plan to celebrate birthday and Christmas 2014 in the same way that I celebrate pretty much everything, i.e. by having a warm bath with some good music and beer.

It's my 25th at the end of the month, and I really can't be arsed to do anything.
I've booked the week off work, but going in to do my second job on ever day other than my birthday.
Thing is I love my second job, love the people I work with, so would quite happily go in, but it may be seen as odd!
Going to see if a couple of friends from college fancy meeting up for a drink or something.
I had made plans to do something with my ex, her daughter would have been at nursery, and it would have just been the two of us for a change, but as she is now my ex, and we haven't spoken for nearly two months, that isn't going to happen.

It's been my birthday today. Gets harder each year to come up with a list of presents for the kids et al to buy, but it's nice to receive them.
49 now. Not looking forward to next year when I expect a bit more of a song and dance will be required. Liking the sound of just clearing off for a few days.

Basically, my 30th birthday is coming up and to be honest, while I love celebrating my partners birthday and getting nice gifts for my family and friends, personally I absolutely LOATHE the idea of being the centre of attention as well as feeling like I have to organise all my friends into one location to commemorate an event that to me, means no more than the day that preceded it.
I can't decide if I should slap myself on the face and stop being a miserable git or if I'm allowed to mark the day in a way I choose fitting...having a rarely permitted curry, kicking my feet up with a beer and watch something like Blackhawk down on extra loud with the surroundsound on.
Do you actually look forward to your 6 pack of black socks and a bottle of aftershave day?
I feel exactly the same as you, I love to give gifts but not so hot on receiving them or being the center of attention.I can't decide if I should slap myself on the face and stop being a miserable git or if I'm allowed to mark the day in a way I choose fitting...having a rarely permitted curry, kicking my feet up with a beer and watch something like Blackhawk down on extra loud with the surroundsound on.

However, as a friend pointed out to me the other day, it makes the people around you happy to make a fuss and give you gifts so these days I do the whole get together thing for their benefit more than my own.
Of course, it's your birthday and totally your decision if you just want to chill out at home but personally I don't mind letting my friends/family make a fuss if they want to.

With mine being on Sept 11th it has (since 2001) always felt a bit wrong to celebrate it. Not least because absolutely every media outlet and everywhere you look is filled with pictures commemorating the event.
Same as my missus, 11th of Sep and she's a twin too.Dalto123 said:
I had my 21st this year, and to be honest I couldn't be less bothered or excited about it - I didn't even know what I wanted present wise and still went to work that day. In future I think I'd rather just take a day or toe off, go for a hoon and treat myself to a nice meal/drink. Miserable or what?
Exactly the same here, on pretty much all counts. Apart from taking one of my toes off...I usually spend it on my own, i book the week off work, get pissed, eat crap, watch films, go hill walking/camping and play computer games. Some people just prefer to spend time on their own, you might be just one of them.
I do like the idea of sending my mum some flowers though, i should make an effort to do that this year.
