I was just wondering - I've got a bottle of aftershave (Brut) I've had for a about 5 years now, and I've not worn it much at all recently. I went to put some on the other day and it was nowhere near as nice as I remember. Does it go off/sour/turned over time, or is it just likely my tastes have changed?

Yes, very much so. Use it or lose it. If you see what I mean.

I'm not sure Brut will ever smell nice, fresh or otherwise?

This is a thread to capture the nasty people so that Matt can then claim to be a victim, again.

I have lots of aftershaves, one in particular was about 15-20 years old. I bought a new one because it was running low, there was a slight difference between the two but not much. The old one still smelt nice (I think) just not as strong.

IME some seem to last longer than others. Diesel red for eg, didn't seem to have it very long before it didn't smell right. I used it to clean the sink. People must think I smell since I always seem to get aftershave for birthdays/Xmas. So some of it stands around for a while, especially if it's one I'm not too keen on. Can't remember the last time I bought my own aftershave !

ETA - Diesel Zero Plus it's called. That's definitely gone off.

Keep it in a cool dark place. Don't leave the bottle exposed to light sitting out.

It will last much longer that way.

Realistically you are going to remain a virgin whether your aftershave is off or not.

Save your cash.

A big mistake is to leave it somewhere exposed to sunlight. I assume it's the U/V which breaks down the ingredient(s). Always keep in a shaded area/

EFA.

Buy something decent such as Ralph Lauren Blue, Jean Paul Gaultier, or (a little more expensive) Bleu de Chanel.
