Well, I did do a bit of ballroom dancing at uni.

But I'm saving this for when I get to say, "Look, son, your dad's still got it." http://youtu.be/qriH-8yeqcE?t=1m10s
Funnily enough the only dance moves that I've ever put in the effort to copy are from Everybody in the place

I've spent many hours in front of massive speakers at dodgy clubs out of my face doing the crazy feet biggrin

Because wake up in many strange beds over the years. Sometimes with actual nice ladies.
Doable without dancing, Shirley? Although the few times this has happened I'm not sure how I got there, so maybe I danced all the way back.

I learnt to do the moonwalk in the early 80's after Jeffrey Daniels did it on Top of the Pops, did a bit of body popping/breaking (badly) then moved on to general disco - dance round the handbag moves, then I grew up hehe

Recently the OH has dragged me to learn Cha Cha Cha and Ceroc which I find daunting as you change partners frequently and you go from dancing with middle age beginners to hot* fairly attractive 20/30 somethings who are near professional level

  • the OH may read this hehe

I found that Ecstasy and being at a London squat party in the mid '90s made me a great dancer. ---> smile

rofl Men without hats, an even more obscure lyrical reference than mine, good work.

I think the video must have been the inspiration for the Teletubbies

Obviously one for the guys here but I was on hols recently and a few of reps were predicatbly good at dancing and I am predicatably bad. I wondered if anyone had actually had some lessons to avoid the horrific (unless you're battered!) 'Dad dancing'? It doesn't look that hard?
Refuse to dance.

Sorted.

Lots of famous people didn't dance. Adolf Hitler, for one...smile
He had one ball, but after that the ballroom was closed for good. snigger.

Many moons ago the missus and I went to a salsa class. The two things I remember about my one and only lesson.

1 - The instructor telling me he was shocked someone of colour had so little rhythm (err cheers mate)

and

2 - Having to swop partners and being paired with some sour faced bored house wife (trust me love I'm equally unimpressed having to hold your hand)

I have however always liked the idea of tap dancing. One day I'll talk myself into taking a class.

I attended Salsa classes at Bar Rhumba in London in the late '90's as a key element of an ultimately futile campaign to get into a particular young lady's underwear.

Despite the rather disappointing outcome of the pursuit, I did become able to dance well enough not to embarrass myself on a dance floor. I'm certainly no John Travolta, but can at least dance well enough not to create a massive space around. The key, I was told, is in the hips and moving your feet to the beat.

On my g/f's birthday in Cyprus we got wasted and there was a small disco going on, mainly for the oldies. She said or rather slurred, if Lady in Red came on, I had to dance with her. It did, we both shuffled about a bit on the dance floor before returning to our seats, but these old women were pros, they knew all these ace moves.

Anyway, it turned out that she didnt mean Lady in Red, she meant Three Times a Lady, or whatever it is. But that we should take dancing lessons to be able to do it again, and to have a proper first dance at our wedding.

So after 8 months I can now waltz pretty good, I'm fine with a Cha Cha, the Rhumba is coming on, and I can do basic turns in the Quickstep and I'm alright at a square Tango.

I hate the jive though, being a bit sturdy means I look like an angry bag of wobbling cock when it's on at a quick pace, so I dont tend to do that one.

Other than that, quite enjoy it.

Quite so, Old Bean. However it has come to my notice that some ladies are actually highly attracted to the activity and to the chaps who are competent at it. Similarly being able to play a piano...

Can't do either; don't want to do either!

I did Ballroom dancing back in the day when I was 18. If you're a single bloke, you're laughing. I met a very lovely girl there, and went out with her for a couple of years.
I was rubbish at it, because (straight) Men cannot possibly ever dance with any rhythm, at all.

I learned to dance when I was about 18.

I learned that "put your hands up" song by that band that sung it, and "jump" by the House of pain.

I applied those techniques and skills to a range of up tempo mid nineties indie pop songs (specifically that one by ocean colour scene that they used on TFI friday) and very neatly seugewayed the movements into the late nineties garage scene.

I can still dance 20 years later but these days as it's usually only weddings and birthday parties fewer people seem to join in with me, which results in less injuries so that's nice.
