Timfy, 10 million and you'd still go to work?!
I would. I still want to enjoy my life and would easily get bored far too quickly without work.
Only a boring person with no imagination would get bored by not going to work.
Define boring. It would stop my brain rotting, keep me within the realms of society. It would also be an opportunity to do something a bit more worthy.
I'd still work if I had millions in the bank.

Of course the thing I'd do for "work" would be radically different.

a) £10 - Pocket it.
b) £100 - Buy a new cordless drill (mine just died).
c) £1000 - As above, the rest into the christmas kitty.
d) £10,000 - as above + get the formal plans drawn up for our extension and put the rest towards starting the work.
e) £100,000 - as above + pay of the car loans.
f) £1,000,000 - as above - but do the entire extension in one go - pay off the mortgages.
g) 10,000,000 - as above (or possibly move house) + retire, sort a few select family members out (pay off their mortgages etc), build an observatory with state of the art astronomy kit, buy a few others cars I like - i'd also try and buy back the Lotus Elan M100 I used to own.

This.
My work would become owning a cafe in Maratea, Italy and paying someone to run it.

a) £10 - A few items for lunch from the nearest shop.

b) £100 - Meal with the missus

c) £1000 - A new laptop or Christmas presents

d) £10,000 - Buy the missus a 2nd hand car or a decent holiday

e) £100,000 - Substantial mortgage deposit for a larger home

f) £1,000,000 - Buy a nice family home outright and another smaller property for investment. Hopefully for sub £500K and bank the rest.

g) £10,000,000 - I'd still work but only on a bank basis, maybe 1 or 2 days a month (yes, I love my job that much!) Same value of house if I won a million but have a much larger investment portfolio. A bit of charity work and plenty of travel, fun and so on.

As for cars? Really don't know! Most likely an old Landy and an Ultima for fun and a low key daily driver.

Hey! I said jaffa cakes.

What were you expecting people to spend lots of money on if not things that cost lots of money?

I suppose there are expensive things that aren't cars, houses, watches and travel. Like jewelry, weddings and horses. The PH teenage girls seem to have totally missed this thread.

You could invest it in >is already bored of this as a concept<

a) £10 - Nowt special, probably a couple of Scratchcards as above.

b) £100 - Pocket money, probably spend on gig tickets, CDs, lunch out with OH.

c) £1000 - Put money towards wedding, maybe an iPad Mini or other tablet.

d) £10,000 - 90% saved for wedding, rest on a week away or a city break.

e) £100,000 - 10k wedding, pay off a chunk of mortgage, use remainder as a sizeable deposit on a second house to restore and sell/rent.

f) £1,000,000 - new (but modest) house, small amount to both sets of parents to do with as they wish. Bank no less than 60%.

g) £10,000,000 - house with plenty of garage space and a few toys. Money to parents and a couple of select friends to help them get onto property ladder. A few additional investment properties. Same idea as above, bank minimum of 75% for future. Would probably stay at work, too young to consider not working again.

ETA the remainder of f) and g) would be dipped into as and when i wanted over the years

Could you post your list im just curious what you would go for.

a) £10 - leg of lamb

b) £100 - Test session in a 125cc kart at a decent open air track

c) £1000 - Could probably get the Hartge bodykit fitted to my BMW for that

d) £10,000 - Buy one of three Hartge H27 BMW E30 tourings built and get it refreshed

e) £100,000 - pay the mortgage off. Buy an Autocruise Rhythm campervan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51epswzJOE8 with a trailer and an Elise or caterham and tour Europe spanking round mountain roads and doing track days. I would still work, probably doing similar stuff to now (geology). It's what I enjoy and am learning new stuff all the time and get to "test it". You try and work out what's been happening on over a long time and then get to test it by drilling expensive wells and see if you're right, smile I'd probably work only a % of the time instead of 100%, but £10 000 000 isn't that much to live on if you're going to go crazy and not work for the next (hopefully) 50+ years.

What kind of things did you expect people to say. The things listed are probably just the most obvious things people thought of.

Had the question been "what would be the most outlandish thing you would buy if you won......." then you may have got a bit more of this "imagination" you appear to think is lacking.
