As an aside, why do threads like this make people so angry?

Whilst I think the OP is making a bad call, I don't actually care because I don't know him. I can't bring myself to get angry and call him names or whatever.

Is it that lots of the people getting angry have felt similar but have taken the harder route of responsibility and so get angry when they see someone doing what they didn't out of a touch of jealousy/resentment? Like a 'let's see what you could have won' type situation, or is it something more fundamental?

Just curious as to how a predominantly male forum can be so moved to care about a bloke leaving his family.
Because it seems an injustice on the girl and on the women involved. And as predominantly males we seek to eradicate injustice against females by whatever means, because we all love our mothers and want to kill our fathers. Psychology 101.

You'll understand when you have kids.

ANyway sc0tt, I have a funny feeling you still live with your parents. Admit it or deny it at once so I can mock you or find a different angle.

I think the outrage (I think that is a strong term) is due to the reasons set out above.

To attribute it to jealousy is to go with the typical, lazy, PH stock answer for everything when someone questions it from a moral aspect (which 90% of the time is wrong).

For example, my recollection of the infamous red bull throwing thread (I may be wrong) was that a dast car (Audi R8?) did something dangerous, OP was probably justifiably upset being on the potential other end of an incident then sacrificed the moral high ground with a peculiar reaction to said emotion.

The resultant replies were that the only reason he was upset in the first place was jealousy of the bloke having an R8 (when if the R8 was driving like a prize penis surely you are entitled to be at least a little upset).

Just my tuppence - everyone at some point has the opportunity to get a bit of extra-marital leg over therefore it's hardly a jealousy issue. It just so happens the majority feel to do so would lack moral fortitude - and expressed as such.

Yes, after doing the OP. One year on I am waiting for the stars to re-align and things to be sorted.

No children thankfully.

I cannot comment on what has not happened. Doing what I did haunts me. I can't imagine the pain of throwing an 18 month old in the mix.

If he doesn't post an update then a Mod should just out him. He's probably merrily posting away on his main account.

Having been told by my ex, that she didn't want to be married anymore (over 7 years ago now), and not being able to see my kids every day, it really makes you think.

Even now, I wish things had been different, as I miss my kids so much.

So, to the OP, don't even think about it, as you will get so much st being the guilty party. Also many people say you get over it, but where kids are involved, and you then don't see them as often, then you never get over it. You will be that lonely guy at the end of the bar every night, with too much booze, and not enough life.

If you have any kind of feelings for your other half, make a go of it. If you don't then make the break amicably, and give it a while before moving on to the next bit of stuff. That way, you can come out of the relationship with at least a little bit of dignity intact.

Pitpony - Really feel for you and your missus, hope the news is good. You are in my prayers and thoughts.

Touche. She's 75 and severely disabled but I can see the appeal to someone aged 30 who still lives at home.
