You can buy some great, robust and reliable printers - but they cost multiples of what most people buy - we've taken the stance in work never, ever to supply printers to clients because they're a nightmare - but if you buy a desktop printer for £100 than comes with £80 worth of ink cartridges, how well do you really expect it to work?

If you a good printer look for a solid ink printer from a decent manufacturer for about £500.

If you look on the life hacks thread some bright spark has suggested using a tin opener for opening these and to be fair it works a treat.
Trying THAT later yikes

Those syringes you get with Calpol. Push the plunger gently - no action. Push a little harder - choke-inducing medicine cannon.

The 'Select' button on the last few Sky+ remotes. Only a pain if you want to actually select anything.

As per my previous post I can't even get the bd things to open cans more than 50% of the time. What chance have I of getting them to do a job for which they weren't intended?

The 'plastic' used to package rice. I've never opened one without it splitting. Luckily they now provide a re-seal sticker that you can use to patch up the split.

Empty packet into a cheap Tupperware knock off. Then curse as the lid pops off in the cupboard.

Those re-sealable bags where you cut along the scissor line first. I cut along the scissor line, then can't open the re-sealable bit without it causing permanent damage to the bag. ALDI tortilla wraps are the worst offenders.

Ahh, top tip - run the hot tap and draw up and squirt out the water.

Then use as normal - It cleans off the sticky calpol residue and it works like a dream

Any "touch sensitive" controls on household appliances e.g. Hob, dishwasher etc. These NEVER work as they're supposed to.

Wtf is wrong with a dial? It can be rotated to precisely the setting you want in a split second. In my experience, all "Touch sensitive" controls require all manner of jabbing, swiping and swearing to stand even a half chance of getting somewhere near the setting or program which you wanted.

I bought one with snap-on plastic blades for that very reason.
