I took my girl home in a 190E 2.3 16v. Daddy Cool was a song about me.

How about a Subaru Forester 2.5 XT...

Not 400bhp but still hilariously fast, loads of room inside for people and stuff, and if there's traffic you can drive across the fields. smile

Best of all, they're almost anonymous so you won't be pulled up by plod! biggrin

What's wrong with the Seat Altea quoted in your profile as a family wagon?

We're talking about a car to get a pinkie home all safe and sound, not a vehicle required to reoccupy the Netherlands.

I was brought home from the hospital in a Mk1 Escort. It was a boggo family car back then rather than a super-cool retro rally icon.

On the flip side, being able to claim that the first car you ever travelled in was something exotic would be pretty cool for my offspring, so is obviously of paramount importance!
I'm not sure tbh. I think the only people that would care would be a bunch of middle-aged pipe smoking misogynist pub bores. It's highly unlikely to score highly on the totty-pulling scale. smile

I'd suggest something with tall, with rear doors that open very wide, with enough legroom for Kareem Abdul Jabbar.

Either the 2.5L S-Max, or a Zafira VXR.

Interesting take on it and duly noted. But neither of them even have a V8, and as has been previously mentioned a good engine note will surely help the baby to relax on its first ever car journey?! Maybe?!

Big, safe, comfortable, quiet (double glazed), fast if needed. Perfect.

Scott, shh. biggrin

That is cloud9

I thought it was a Celica, a work colleague of mine had one in the eighties, and I agree, the Coupe is far nicer.

Probably cost about eleven million Euros for a good one over here irked
