Calling all baldies
Discussion
One never loses hair, it is merely a re- distribution problem. In my case - gravity is a terrible thing.
On a side note, I like to keep the noggin at a “No. 1” from the barbers – that way I can grow some stubble (read too lazy to shave for a few days) and it all matches, at least in my eyes.

I wouldn't go back to having hair on my head even if there was a scientific breakthrough that allowed it to grow back fully.
As a fellow baldie, I call bullst on this!I use clippers without a guard on but I should shaving it I guess. I'm doing a sponsored comb-over this winter tho!
Brushing/combing several times a day, paying for haircuts that you have to constantly instruct the barber how you want it done, buying separate shampoo and conditioner (not to mention styling gels, if so inclined) and spending time using it vs an extra 3 minutes in the shower with a wet razor you are already using on your face.
The only practical disadvantage would be having to keep the sun off your scalp. The vanity issue disappears after your first compliment from the opposite sex.

I have one of these and use a 1.5 grade. I prefer it short but no wet shave. Cracking little piece of equipment. Really easy to DIY.

but am looking for somehting a bit more convenient that doesn't involve me leaning over a bit of newspaper to catch the scraps as they fall
Slightly O/T but I stand in a dry bath to cut my hair which addresses the issue of having to sweep up clippings off the floor. When you're finished you can just wash them down the plughole (I don't have fancy clippers that can get wet). Don1 said:

1 all over for me once every 2 weeks right now - I'll revert back to this thread in a year or so
.5 same time scales. But I do always seem to get spots on the back of my scalp afterwards - strange.I've been slumming it with one of these since I first shaved my head. I bought it about 8 years ago to maintain the face velcro and about 18 months ago i kept going one day!
I use it on the lowest guard setting now (It crept down from 4 to 1 over the time) and its been fine. Never oiled, sharpened or anything, i just brush the bits out of the mechanism. The only thing wrong with it is the battery is knackered so it gets run off the mains now. Cost about £20 new.

Wet shaving once a week is the answer. No little hairs down your back to itch either. It has the added advantage of making your advancing years much harder to determine.

'm with you on this one, losing my hair was the best thing that happened on my bounce. Prior to shaving it off, I spent my entire teenage years and early 20's struggling with a super fine, silky mop that just looked stupid no matter what I did with it. I couldn't wear it in any kind of 'style' without it being an utter pain to maintain.

I understand what you both mean and to a certain extent I agree with the low maintenance aspect of being bald. Don't you ever think "I wish I had the option to do something different"?Wet shaving once a week is the answer. No little hairs down your back to itch either. Seriously, in my case, having hair was st. I've pretty much not given it a thought since 1999, other than to remind myself to get the razor out and get rid of the stubble, although to be fair, I was using clippers up until 2007.
On another practical note, I work outside a lot, and not having wet, floppy hair is no bad thing. I don't even need a hat (unless it's below zero) as I'm practically waterproof

If we could have thick, luxuriant hair that doesn't grey then maybe. Most 50+ men still with hair are thinning and/or grey which they seem to care little for. It's quite difficult to look unkempt with a shaven bonce.
I go through phases of either wet shaving or just using the clippers.
Wet shaving is probably quicker and I find it best to do the whole head every 3 days. Razor choice is quite critical (best being cheap enough Gillette two blade fixed head jobbies) and as I usually entrust the purchase of such items to 'er indoors, I've had to try shaving with all kinds of st from single blade Bics (sharp, but bloody dangerous ) to fancy 3 blade swivelling things that are as much use as an inflatable dart board. IMO nothing beats the feeling of a freshly shaved bonce covered in a luxurious moisturiser However, nothing worse than cutting yourself and driving to work with patchwork of bog roll stuck on your head
For the last few months though i've been using clippers as i'm sporting a beard and find having a shiny slap with beard doesn't look quite right! So using basic Wahl clippers with no guard on and the blades as close as possible leaves just enough stubble to blend the two halves of my head together in a more subtle manner

Wont be long until I have to start shaving it all off. My wife's a hairdresser and she wont let me do it yet.
