They're readily available from the Apple store here and you're good to go
Yeah but how much longer once Apple realise that they could be used for this kind of attack. I know I might come across a bit naive but it's the same kind of guff that the Daily Express etc... pump out and has us all wearing tin foil hats over things that are unlikely to happen for fks sake (not directed at you OP just expressing my general annoyance at fear mongering used by the press)...
No offence taken, apparently there's a totally legit reason to have these for plumbers to look for leaks (why my mate has one)

Actually, there is a legitimate use for car obd blank key writers. But they still fall into the wrong hands and thousands of BMWs have been stolen. So maybe I was talking st with that point about Apple pulling that product haha

The risk:reward value for this sort of multi step crime is far too skewed towards risk for any criminal with half a brain to seriously attempt.

Simple bag snatching would be a better option in most cases.
I don't see it as too difficult for a criminal unfortunately. All that you have to do is take a thermal photo of the pin pad before your accomplice does the bag snatch on your mark down the road. Then you have not only the bag and cash contents but you also have the pin for at least one of the cards in the wallet too. That can be used to get a wadge of cash from a cash point immediately, and before the victim has had a chance to call police/cancel cards. I don't know about you, but I don't carry a lot of cash in my wallet, but getting hold of my card and pin means you could draw up to about £500 from the cash machine before I could phone the bank to cancel the card. So I don't see the risk as being much higher than the bag snatch, but the reward is an order of magnitude higher.

Also, I'd bet that a good percentage of people have the same PIN for more than one card, meaning £500 a card!

Pssst.

you can use regular sheets of tin foil and fashion it into the shape of a hat.

Don't get ripped off by the system and have them tell you only their pre-made ones work.

Good point. Besides the internets may learn my PIN just by having my card near the computer when I order it.

I'm going to keep it in the microwave.

If I start a 'Why are people getting angry that I don't move away from the PIN pad for 30 minutes and prevent them from paying?' thread - it's your fault audi321.

I just use the one number, then they can't tell what order I pressed it in because the hot bits cover the cooler bits.

Ha ha, yes you're technically right, but has anyone ever said 'Enter your PI number please'
No, they say "enter your PIN, please"
Correct! I hate 'PIN number' and 'VIN number'

Everyone knows Count Von Count's pin from Seseme Street.

"Two. Haa, Haa, Haa"
Seven. Has, haa, haa"

Etc.

Op. If you are worried, ask your bank for a new 5 digit pin. Most are only 4 digits

5 digit pin where one of the numbers is a repeat should foil this - no?

Not me! Ever card has a different pin.

That's why I scratch it on the card.
