How much was the win?

Although winning the lottery would be gret I'd be a bit gutted if I won last nights and it hadn't rolled over from last week hehe
£11,848,500, by someone in France.

Not an amount to be scoffed at then!

Fingers crossed we get a nice win.

So, there's a chance we could each end up with a £73k win. Scratching head as to what would be good value for money, I found this...a part finished aluminium bodied D-Type Replica. One could easily finish the project, correctly, for another £25-30K. Remove the existing engine, install a 4.2litre SerIII XJ6 unit, a 5-speed ZF 'box, Quaiffe backend, some 'v8250 special' suspension components, new brake system all round, interior and a correct paint job +++. Apart from dyno' tune up all of the work is easy to do at home. Would be a lot of fun for the money and the man maths leaves £10-£15k for petrol smile

Engine would be circa' 250bhp..."that's proper Man's BHP"...no electronic gismo's, driver aids, unecessary idiot apps'. Car weight would be circa' 930kg, 0-60 in circa' 4secs and top end in excess of 155mph. 20-25mpg on a good day...so, £15k in petrol money at 20mpg @ £1.26/litre = £5.73/gallon. £15k/£5.73 = 2617 gallons x 20 = 52,340 miles of Dunlop R racing pleasure. I think that's good dash for the cash...

I'm with you on the Lynx theme but if our budget is down to "only" £73k my money is on an Eventer ... http://www.kwecars.com/jaguar-xjs-for-sale/lynx-ev...

KWE at Greenham, not a million miles from home. Passed their place a few weeks ago when trying to sneak a peek at the Millennium Falcon as part of the new Star Wars film was being recorded there. It's interesting how KWE have cut a market niche for themselves. Not sure how profitable the business is...may be folk are prepared to pay for, what can be, very high running costs of an XJS. The Lynx Eventer is a lovely thing, very few built and a proper Gentleman's Shooting Brake; and in many ways better than some of the older SB's. A super place to be as a period long distance GT car.

Paypal have sent me a snotty email about being in breach of their T&Cs for gaming/gambling. So this is either thanks to a dirty grass (hehe) or they autoscan the text field for keywords. Or they're suspicious about lots of £2 payments. I'll be honest, I didn't even know it's against their terms. But, frankly, it's annoying and stupid. Last time I checked, the lottery is perfectly legal and so are syndicates. They claim it's to "protect their brand" - yeah, the lottery which has donated billions to good causes is clearly a terrible thing to be associated with! Absolute tripe.

If people want to do it again for future big ones then I'm sure we'll come up with an alternative. I'm all ears as to what may be the best arrangement - any ideas?

(obviously we still have Friday's to look forward to, though! smile)

It's the fact you took a lot of transactions for free which will have got right up their noses. I do it at work and publically encourage people to do it, they rang me up and some stroppy Irish bird gave me a telling off, she said they would be monitoring my account and if it carried on suspend it.
They haven't.....

Hmm not sure what I would do with *only* £73k.

Probably get shot of the MG and get a new family car, sort out a few things on the RX7 and tweak the engine some what and then sort out some my finances smile Oh and a boss driving holiday down to Italy for a couple of weeks smile

Got to be careful - they look for keywords like "lottery", "donation", "raffle" etc. Maybe something to do with credit card rules on cash advances as well.

I'm looking forward to the look on the Euromillions staffs faces when they realise there's 150 of us to go to the winners island biggrin

Fingers crossed!!

I even had a look at sensible cars to replace the MG with, things like Yeti's or 320d's didn't take long for me to start looking at NSX Type R's and 911's

I must say its been a fun way to lose £2. Thanks to Paul for organising this, I would be interested in doing it again in future if the rollover gets big like it was last week.
