Any bits for a boat, if it has the word marine in it its even worse.

English breakfast at Cardiff airport. £10 +£2.50 for a small coffee. When they say a slice of toast its a triangle slice a slice and not a lot else. Gatwick wetherspoons is the same price but its a bit nicer and you get a coffee.

Who's got the threadbare seating, the pub or the oik?
The oik, the pub, and most of the customers. In the case of the customers, the threadbare seating is generally as a result of having their pants pulled down every time they approach the bar.

Meat.
Meat is ultra cheap. The reason a sunday roast exists is because it used to be the one day a week normal people ate meat. Now people expect meat once or twice a day.

The price of a chicken before WW2, adjusted for inflation, would cost over £40 today. But you can buy a chicken for about £3.

Intensive farming has slashed the price. I like meat, but I'd like to see an end to intensive farming, to see all animals treated with decency and to only be able to have meat occasionally because a packet of bacon cost £20.

Expensive booze. Just unknowlingly finished a bottle of plonk that tasted not too bad. Was left for me by previous house owners. Google revealed it's £110+/bottle. I thought it was nice, perhaps worth spending a tenner on.

Half of it isn't bloody alcohol!
And on that note, wherever I go, ordering an orange juice and lemonade seems to translate to "please relieve me of the contents of my wallet" frown
I was driving one night when we were at the pub so thought I'd stick to orange juice and lemonade just so I didn't yearn for 'one more pint'

Cost more than the bd pint I had 20 minutes later in disgust!

Mobile phones. The youngest plopped mine into the loo (within 2 weeks he has put the tv remote, my car keys, my wallet and one of his shoes down the damn loo) so after trying to dry it out I announced I'd go buy a new one. £500.00

Unreal. £500.00 for a smartphone.

The games are expensive because the consoles are made at a loss and Sony need to make a profit.

You know there's lesser known brand phones out there for £200 which work just as well...

My phone was £14 from Argos. Sends texts, makes calls, has calandar, calculator, conversion feature etc etc.
There's no NEED to spend £500 unless you want to. You could get a second hand iPhone for £100.
And you could also learn your lesson about the loo after the first two things went down it...!

Fair comments and normally I would be the one saying this too.

I have a small business and I use the particular phone and its stylus a lot. I find the note 3 perfect for my needs in this respect so I wanted to get the same

Obviously I'll be making sure this doesn't happen again - his hands are now bound behind his back biggrin

Well what do you expect? You were eating an English breakfast in a foreign country, imagine the import costs!

On average over the year 75p per day to heat my house and to give me hot water is a bargain and £1 per day to give me energy to give me light, let me watch the TV, use the computer etc; again, is a relative bargain as far as I'm concerned.
So...£273 a YEAR for your gas and £365 for Electric? Really? I don't think I've paid anywhere near as little as that annually in years! Even when it was just me in a terraced house! My gas bill alone in a large 3 bed detached house is more than 4 times yours, even on the cheapest tariff/rarely heating the water/only having the heating on when really necessary. Do you live in an insulated Wendy house? smile

It's possible. When I lived on my own , in a 4 storey terraced Hse my power bills were next to nothing. As yr at work all day, used to be out on weekends at s girlfriends or away in my camper van

Roll forward : now in s much bigger family Hse with wife and kids , I reckon 130 a mth on power. End of the day my family are in a lot and thus heating is.

Moto g... 120 odd quid.

Mines been down the loo also and it was fine, they are water resistant.

This thread has demonstrated that if you're willing to buy different things from different places then really, it ain't that bad.

Sorry my mistake, when I worked out both I wasn't taking into account the "standing charge" so my revised figures from 1st Jan 2014 up until today are:

Gas: £299.81 which is £1.00 per day.

Electric: £345.59 which is £1.16 per day.

A relative bargain if you ask me.

I live with the wife and 15 year old daughter in a 2 bed semi, the wife works part time, the daughter is in from 15:30, there is someone about all weekend and neither of them are alergic to putting the heating up way too high, chatting on the doorstep with the front door wide open for a great length of time or leaving windows open before the heating goes on.

When I get home though I am a nightmare for turning the heating down to an acceptable level and making sure windows and internal doors are shut.

They are very good about switching lights off though, it is amazing how many people leave lights on all evening in the hallway or landing or even rooms that aren't occupied; my dad for one.
