Lego sculptures by the same artist. Some great, some mediocre. Went yesterday with fiancée for her birthday.

£14.50 per adult midweek. £16.50 per adult weekend.

Not worth that in a million years.

And being half term there were plenty of kids swarming around which made me even more grumpy!

To name a few. I'm sure I could think of loads. The mark up on some items is just ridiculous.
Yes, video games aren't cheap but I don't think console games have gone up in price that much. I seem to recall Atari cartridges costing £30+ over 30 years ago and PS1/N64 games were £30-50 when they first came out.

Also the effort and expense that goes into making a top end game these days isn't to be sniffed at.

The big blockbuster titles cost more than a big budget Hollywood movie to make, plus a game at £45-£50 gives you much more for your money than a Blueray at £15, you can play a game for many 10's of hours plus there is online gaming too.

This!! whilst i'm only an amateur photographer the amount of very bad wedding photos I see from people who have tried to cut on their expenditure just to then spend the saving on table decorations. And then there response - I wish I'd got a better photographer. I know someone who has just booked a photographer without meeting them before hand, why it costs nothing to meet them.
Best thing we did was to spend the photographer money on giving everyone (else) a free bar + cigars all night. The best man had a list of the group poses that we wanted and we asked everyone to take pics and send us copies. Over the next month or so we were sent loads of pics with enough of good quality to put together an album.

10 yrs on we rarely look at the pics (apart from the framed ones) but still get comments from guests that it was the best wedding they'd every been to.

We had a quiet and inexpensive wedding, the wifes cousin did the photos as she was studying photography at the time, for whatever reason we only received a few photo's the rest were being processed or something, however the ones that we had were great, and we had a load from friends etc which were taken over the course of the evening, we are more than happy with what we had and we feel that they represent the way we wanted the day to be; totally informal, no pomp or ceremony and un-stuffy.

However it all depends on what the individual is actually after.

Wedding invites. With the invite card, RSVP, info sheet and envelope, around £10 EACH.
Wedding stuff is ridiculously expensive; we had a quote for flowers from one lady who, without any hint of emotion said "it comes to £2000" (or there abouts).
it's almost like just before many of these places tell you how much it is, they are already annoyed at the reaction you haven't even had yet. They're irritated in advance at having to say there is no room for movement on the price, because they know they don't have to care and they have you by the balls, so it's an inconvenience to have to say the words. fking s!

Not looking to be argumentative but I think trainers are cheaper than ever. 20 years ago you could pay £100 a pair and I know you still can but there's an amazing choice at less than £50 and well fit for purpose unless you're a budding Mo Farah.
I'm fed up paying silly money for shoes now, for daily wear these have been fine:

Disneyland... all of them cost way more than you think it should...

I just received a quote for a family of 5, in Feb for 1 night stay / 2 days in the park.... £1300 - not including getting to Paris..

Awful, awful, minging place and I'm not even sure why my dear wife is trying to make me go through it again.... I swore once was enough....

On the flip - Drayton Manor Theme Park near Birmingham is about £90 for a day's family ticket and is unbelievably great fun!!

Disney accomodation takes the p**s big time. Try the Novotel Collegien - 10 mins drive from the park - kids stay free and they sometimes do a 2nd room for kids at 50% off. 3 Hours drive from Calais, a crossing should be about £100 return. Job jobbed.

Weddings are ridiculous - as Ben Elton eruditely puts it....

"Flowers. Wedding flowers aren't flowers, they're blooms. you don't visit a florist, you visit a bloomist. blooms are exactly the same as flowers, except they cost three times as much.

Hotels, wedding suite. you;re only sleeping in there, you'll be so pissed you won't be able to shag the bride anyway, if she drops the "you've gotta shag me" one and you say "WITH WHAT" as you look downwards, later on you you'll be hunting around the room for a pencil to use as a splint, start to vomit and wake up in the bog on the floor with toothpaste in your eye in the morning...how will you know its the wedding suite? it will have cost a fortune and there will be a doilley under the bog roll...."

I think the kids will enjoy it more than adults. There are some good pieces of art but some is a little contrived/formulaic. I think you could tell that this chap used to be a lawyer and now was playing artist. If you like Lego, you'll enjoy it. Expect it to be busy though!

I think I would have preferred the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition at the Nat History Museum.

Could be worse, at least it's not London Zoo prices!!

e-Books, Can someone explain why an e-book is £7.99 and i need a £50 reader. But I can go into tesco, etc and buy 2 in chart new real books for £7.

That and coffee I dont drink tea or coffee but the misses does. A while back we had to do some shopping in kingston, she wanted lunch and suggested costa, I suggested O'Neills. She said the coffee was nicer and the whole lunch was less than a scabby sarnie in Costa.

Normally ebooks are cheaper, that's certainly what I've found. The obvious difference is that one pays VAT on ebooks.

razor blades are a joke. 5 blade, 6 blade, 7 blade, comfort moisturising strip, vibrating fking head thing etc etc etc. Each of these 'innovations' cost more and more money. The strip thing is actively defrauding people too, as it lasts about 3 shaves and then it erodes away revealing what i am sure is sandpaper in order to make it as uncomfortable as possible so you just change it for a new one far earlier than you would if it wasn't there at all. Gilette are stheads.
Try one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/Original-Razorpit-Razor-Bl...

I've not bought any new blades in the last year. It's paid for itself a few times over.

Just ordered one myself the reviews seem too good to be true but as my blades (fusion) are like £12 a packet it is certainly worth a try!
