Haircut when all you need is a #2 all over: £10 for 5 minute's work. That's £1200/hr to someone who failed every exam going.

Balsamic vinegar. Must be some sort of monopoly/Mafiosi thing going on.

Printer cartridges. In some cases, replacements cost more than the printer. In most cases they last for about 4 pages and dry up if you don't use them within 10 minutes of opening them.

Everything in the Harry Potter studio tour in Watford.

I was shocked. Even a Argos-esq pen all be it in the shape of a wand, £10.95.

Another one - Overlockers for finishing off handmade shirts etc....they are 3-400 quid new for a decent one...I know you can pay anything you want for somethings but as a generalisation these two things stood out recently as like "crikey, that's more expensive than I thought it would be...."
How much is a bespoke jacket (£5-800) and a shirt is almost as much effort to create so £3-400 is good value really compared to the amount of work involved.
Actually overlockers are quite complex from a mechanical point of view.

My OH says shame on you - French seams or flat felled seams are what you should be putting on your shirts.

Going into Tesco gives me a headache. The bloody headach tablets should be handed out free at the door.

I does not matter if Marmite cost £1000 a jar it is essential to life.

£10 for 5 minutes is £120 an hour not £1200 and if all you want is a number 2 all over, argos sell clippers from about £15 :-)

You can get most of that from pound land and guess what it costs?

That's not all overpriced stuff just you choosing to buy it from the wrong pace I'd say.

On that basis coke at a pub, made from a concentrate,is more expensive than petrol. In fact, I'd guess its more expensive than rocket fuel.

  • I realise that you are paying for the luxury of being served by a disinterested spotty oik in a grubby pub with threadbare seating.

And on that note, wherever I go, ordering an orange juice and lemonade seems to translate to "please relieve me of the contents of my wallet" frown

Who's got the threadbare seating, the pub or the oik?

Pound shop sometimes does have some of it at a decent price, but it's inconsistent and often you're buying a dubious brand or an unusually small quantity.

Wish the buggers would stock timber, too!
