I don't have a smart phone and those that have them keep trying to persuade me to get one - like some kind of cult. My mum even said "we'll all contribute and get you one for Christmas". fk me, if I wanted one I'd have bought one by now.

I'll stick to my £35 Samsung that doesn't do internet. Makes a grand job of phoning and texting, which is all I need.

Out with a group of mates in the pub and they're all sat there staring at their phones half the time rolleyes

The world was worse before dumb phones, but smart phones have made it a bit st IMO.

I have a mobile phones somewhere. It's a Motorola Razor thing.

The reason I have it is because my g/f was convinced I needed one in case of emergencies.
That was about 7 years ago and that emergency moment hasn't arrived yet where I wish I had it in my pocket.

If people need to contact me, they know where I live, they know my landline number, they know my e-mail address.
Why do I need this little box in my pocket so I can never truly have a moment to myself.
Ok, I can turn it off, but doesn't that defeat the object...twice?

I've always wondered. What do people do on their phone that requires them to be looking at it all the time from dawn to dusk?

Was sitting around waiting for my mrs. in the City yesterday and it just dawned on me how many people were talking on, fingering, plugged into or just clutching mobile devices. It just looked insane.

It felt like I'd walked onto some futuristic film set and quickly put my phone back in my jacket. hehe

It's crazy isn't it.

I think I've posted this before but a while ago I attended a driver awareness course.

This is one of those times where you are very unlikely to know anyone else in the room so we were all complete strangers.
There was 30 of us sat in a hall waiting to go into our courses.
I looked around the room and there was either 4 or 5 of us that hadn't got our faces in a phone.

There was a time that they may have started a conversation with someone they had never met before.

Perhaps it was the knowledge that they were in a room with a bunch of criminals that did it.

In the States we do occasionally have some extreme weather and we loose all power.

In the next mini disaster we will have to put all the smart phone users on suicide watch as they will not be able to charge their little life support systemssmile

I have one of these silly devices, it came with extra battery pack that is twice the size of the phone.
Which of course I have never used, still in the plastic.

The phone itself is not very useful as I like to leave one in each car, this thing needs charging everytime I try to make a call.

World a better place before cell phones....
I think it has possibly made people less reliable, people before would tend not to be late for meetings and appointments. Now they call to say they will be late, as if that makes it alright.

Other opinion is "some people need a smart phone to elevate them to average."
