I'm after a bit of help please!

I'm looking to buy some jewellery on ebay around £750 and I can pay by PayPal or I can pay directly by credit card.

What offers me the best protection?

The jewellery is about the right money but a little under other examples so i want to be sure I'm protected if it is too good to be true. However the seller has lots of only 100% feedback.

Cheers

G.

PayPal protection is generally good, but if they decide against you then you are stuffed. PayPal is registered in Luxembourg and not subject to FCA regulation, so you need to take your own legal action directly against the buyer, or PayPal to go further.

If you pay by CC it's all covered under UK regulations and the card company has to follow procedures.

I was fked over by paypal/ebay, they're both owened together these days. I was saved because I payed with my CC through paypal, so I was covered by the CC regs.

Best to pay via paypal using a CC.

Most sellers won't try and screw you over, if they are running it as a business then they will try and resolve any potential problems.

I should know as I'm a jewellery seller on ebay.

Just a minor tip, but always check what the 100% feedback is for if you're looking to buy something that's worth a few quid. One of the scams is to build up a good feedback score on 99p items and then screw people over for more expensive stuff before walking away from the account.
