Someone I used to stand near at the football had one of these, I remember it being -2 or -3 and he was sweating after he walked back to his seat after half time laugh Warm as toast doesn't even come close!
That's the issue with some of these mentally warm jackets is that most of us rarely have any sustained period outside using them. By the time you walk from the tube to the office / house to the pub you're sweating like Sir Cliff and only use it once or twice a year.

I'm after a new jacket for my trip to New York next week but I tend to run very hot, I have a boss down jacket and it's too warm most of the time. I love the Canada goose jackets and tried on a chilliwack and within a minute I could feel sweat on my back! Don't know what to go for might just end up with a soft-shell at this rate.

I bought a north face goose down jacket, I know this brand on ph is the spawn of the devil, but had a few jackets and always good value.

I can hardly ever wear it thou as I end up cooking like a toaster every time I wear it.

If you're too hot or too cold you either bought the wrong thing or you're doing the wrong thing smile

I have this and find with the right layering its pretty much perfect for everything I need. That normally involves standing on a touchline through the winter watching my son play football, but also hiking and climbing in the Lakes in a variety of conditions. It only protects against light rain though.

The waffle lining also makes it incredibly comfortable.

There are few problems in the world which can't be solved with copious amounts of lubrication.

I bought one of these a few weeks ago, wind and waterproof but not too hot, ideal for layering underneath if needed.

It's not a danger, the coyote's dead.

Let's face it, in the UK, you'll never need more than what TNF have to offer. Spending hundreds of pounds on a parka is just waving your penis around, jacket style.

And why would anyone buy something with real fur on it in this day and age? It's disgusting.

I bought a NF McMurdo (SP ?!?) a few years ago. Reason for it was marshalling the Wales Rally GB and I have to say it was epic. Standing around in Wales in the rain for 8 - 10 hours / day was never going to be fun but the jacket performed effortlessly. To the point that the only reason I knew it was raining was I could hear it on the hood and see it in front of me.

As for a lack of movement on my part, jacket kept me nice and warm and the wind / breeze / wet horrible gale never touched.

It's a few years old now and I'm about tot re-proof it for the first time shortly. that'll be interesting to see how that goes

Well, if you must. I got a nice Rab insulated layer last year so this year might as well look at a waterproof shell to go over the top.

I want something massively over-engineered for the occasional drizzle (100% waterproof but breathable) while out walking the dog but a bit more stylish than your average rambler gear.

Are Arcteryx worth the money? Any other ideas?
