He's still alive and well, he's only 50ish - I read his life story once, behind the silly persona post Olympics he's a proper decent bloke.Yeah he wasn't exactly Olympic standard, but Jesus wept he turned up with a helmet held on with string and sent it off the 90m ski jump wearing boots 4 sizes too big (6 pairs of socks to compensate) and hoped for the best - he must making a clanging sound when he walks.
He was a world class skier too, lived like a hobo to keep skiing and only took up jumping because it didn't need a Ski pass.
He was a plasterer before his '15 minutes' and a plasterer now, he made a pile of cash during his time, but lost most of it to tax and management fees - he actually put it all in a trust so he could maintain his amateur athlete status to keep competing.

He was on that diving program with Tom Daley earlier in the year and was pretty good at it, I guess that going off the top board isn't at all scary compared to ski jumping.Whether or not we think he's a numpty, he had, probably still has, the British ski Jump record.
