Now I check his latest thread and he is trying to find a seamstress to make curtains.
There was a time when the trajectory of PH conjecture as to why Flashman would need to be procuring the services of a curtain maker, and what had rendered the original curtains unserviceable, would have led to one inevitable - and unsavoury - conclusion.

Eeeee.... loookshery! We 'ad it hard. We 'ad to pay Ted thirteen shilling an' sixpence just to log on, although Podie got t'discount for 'is knob gags and Mel for his shaved smooth bks and Flasher (the original Flasher, not that Flashman upstart) for being special. And CarZee too. I doubt most whippersnappers even know who CarZee is these days but he was PH royalty back in t'day.

Me? I'm just JonRB. Always here. Always in the background. Serving up emoticons for all to use; many of which have been subsumed into the official list.

More likely wondering if someone with a Lambo or Aston could possibly help out with a prom or wedding for £50...

Steady on, £25 tops. And throw in a ride to the "honeymoon" destination at Blackpool.

Maybe we should all start signing things with FHRITP - that wouldn't be seen on Mumsnet?

The most surprising thing was the comments section of that Telegraph article. I always figured the average Telegraph reader would be a better educated version of the Daily Mail readers; all Kippers and "I'm not racist but" anti-Muslims.

But they hold a mirror up to some of the worst aspects of the PH forums and it seems a fair and well balanced snapshot of what being on PistonHeads is like in 2014

That doesn't make much sense; 'worst aspects' -> 'fair well balanced'. Can't have both chap.

Well if a website has good aspects and bad aspects and both are highlighted, then I would say that would be a fair well balanced reflection

Ok maybe I wasn't clear about what I meant when I said "being on PH in 2014"

In my opinion you can come on PistonHeads and tap into a wealth of knowledge from some very informative people. Not just on cars, but on a wide variety of subjects. You might not find the answer you are looking for, but you might be able to find the start of an answer so then you can carry on your research. In that regard, it's almost like tapping into an encyclopedia of real-world knowledge on cars and other subjects, which in my opinion, makes this site extremely unique and invaluable.

However there is a rather disturbing element to PistonHeads which is there is an undercurrent bigotry and racism which is allowed to fly across many of the boards (which may in fact reflect modern Britain). Just take a look at this recent topic from a few months ago: "Bradford - Lost for words http://tinyurl.com/qypz4za" . A lot of casual racist posts on that thread which I've seen quite a lot of over the years. Which is why I tend to stay away from the political threads and just stick to other threads which interest me

I thought it was interesting that Telegraph commenters would be self-aware enough to highlight that.

Things do seem to lean to the right on here, still waiting for a "Greens - The Future" thread.

To be fair, the whole country is moving to the right. Just defriended a few people when I realised they supported Britain First on bookface.

With large numbers of people wanting to take their partners up the OXO Tower, visiting the Tower often meets with initial reluctance.
In general, however, visitors report that the OXO Tower has smooth service and even if it felt uncomfortable at first, the final experience was fantastic. laugh

Just been reading the comments to the article. Can someone point me in the direction of the racism forum and woman beating forum I feel like I'm missing out on a lot of what PH has to offer.....

Now like most I frequesnt certain sections that interest me on PH you come across the odd tit but I've not witnessed any of what a lot of the comments suggest??
