I wonder how the TV returns will fare,

"I wish to return this item"
"what is wrong with it sir?"
"The screen cracked when I hit your store manager over the head with it in the crush"

Edit or "think I cracked the screen on a little old lady has she was kicking me in the shins"

Let's hope so, my brother bought one, it came with a 10 parts and labour guarantee.
Which 10 parts? Seems a bit of a swizz to me!

Hey, 1000 posts!

Frankly I find the whole 'Black Friday' thing deeply depressing - humanity at it's very worst

We are all consumers in this society and there is nothing wrong with that… but being told by our mighty overlords Tesco, Amazon, Google or whoever that we MUST consume more right NOW to suit their agenda really, really pisses me off.

I'm not playing that game and I never will... still got a whacking great TV (CRT type?). Wouldn't mind a thin flatscreen type but I'll be damned if I buy a replacement while the old one still works perfectly well.

I actually got a black Friday deal £240 for a £300 helmet.

I don't need a 5th helmet but I got too excited.

Mind you the rate I crash its an investment

I see that Tesco and Argos are also showing the "please wait, heavy traffic, blah blah" waiting page.
.

I think there is a new brand of cyber marketing. Companies trying to make themselves seen almost 'human' and fallable. I get about 3 emails a week now saying 'sorry, we had website issues yesterday, so here is 10percent voucher' etc. or 'we sent you an expire voucher last week, so here is one for twice what it was now, sorry'.

I think they think people, will want to exploit the apparent mistake and take advantage of the situation, a situation that is wholly managed and manufactured by the seller!

This queueing thing may be a similar ruse to relieve us of cash for unwanted tat.

Virtually every company I've bought from has sent a Black Friday email today. All full o'shiite. This country needs to stop paying marketing execs with crack cocaine.

Currys site now I'm at the front of the queue appears fked! Go to homepage, click the Black Friday deals banner and it takes you to a search function saying 'other people who searched for 'anal intruders' went on to buy these items.....'

It's not always anal intruders you understand, random stuff like, butt plugs too!

What a waste of fking time

It's absolutely, shamefully pathetic.

This picture looks like something off a Children In Need appeal and yet they are clamoring for a TV or similar!? They are that hard-up that they have to fight their neighbours to save money to buy a luxury item ffs.

Wembley apparently

not sure where this was

This looks like a food que in a 3rd world country during a famine.

It's just like the January sales. As rowan Atkinson accurately described it 'legalised looting'

It's very dispiriting to see this kind of marketing whipped up frenzied behaviour. I think tonight's grocery shopping will include something for the local food bank.

But, it's not a luxury item. It's the cheapest, sttiest big telleh you can buy for what, 140 quid?
Normal price for that telly is 160, and it's still st. Anyone buying that over either a £185 Toshiba or a £160 quid (decent) 32 would have to be so council that they consider Lamberts luxury when compared to Richmond.

I'm saddened but not shocked that Tescos in Manchester had to shut due to the local pond life. This is the same population that rioted a couple of years back and the first 2 shops to be looted were Matalan and Bargain Booze ffs.

Thank fk I no longer live in Manchester.

Whether it's a cheap st TV or not........a TV is still a luxury item.

I think we can agree that the sort of person that buys a st TV like that and fights their neighbours for it visited the gene pool when the life guard had a day off wink

Oh FFS, are people that hard up for a fking telly, I bought mine via the John Lewis website, it turned up in a van and was dropped in my front room by two very polite chaps, I signed the note and off they popped, I couldn't enjoy my purchase if I had to drag it home on the bus having fought the league of nations there for it. I bought a good tv that was that price for a reason, not some knocked down POS "Blaupunkt" (I know they make good car audio, but their tellies are knockdown toss)

I hate anything that is hyped, I hate sales, just buy less stuff, buy good stuff, when you want it ? most of the stuff in sales is there for a reason, why waste a good day off rooting round on Boxing day with hundreds of other over fed, flatulent tossers, my mum goes to the Next sale and then moans about it every year, she bemoans the richly fart laden atmosphere and the "Ignorant Market Stall holders" (of a certain nationality I cant mention but she is quite racist about it) that grab armfulls of stuff.

Why put yourself through it, you lose perspective, like Ebay auctions you are in to "win" sometimes, not to get the actual bloody item, you get your treasure home and most of it you will never use, how much is actually a saving on not bothering and going when you need stuff, preferably late on when the shops are quiet, neither side of Christmas ?
