I can vouch for my local Homebase, staffed at weekends by mostly hotties (probably stoodents).

Bought some willow fencing that upon unfurling had some fungus on it (easily cleaned) but went back to the store and the manager gave me a straight 60% discount.

Yes, this is a bona fide cool story.

(Quickly putting brain in gear), I said "I think you will find under the consumer protection act regulations you are only required to return the defective item, not the packaging"

He turns to the girl at the till and says "Give him a refund"

Well played, chap.

Sadly, the one local to me has closed a couple of years ago. I wonder why?

I find my local Homebase staff very helpful, and today they were selling cakes and mince-pies for charity. The mince pies were lovely. smile

My condolences to the butler. Would certainly explain the state of the oven.

Maybe he bought an oven lamp in Homebase, and it crapped out, and he can't see inside the oven. biggrin

If that was my oven I would be looking for sabotage, the creatures that live in there won't like the light.

Sticks.
