At 22 and given the state of the housing market they'll probably be renting. No, she just wants out and is pushing buttons to make it his fault. 'Testing' then the hard slap when that didn't work, then no apology despite the fact that he was clearly upset (upset enough to leave).
Think about it, if you were horsing around and accidentally or unthinkingly did something that upset your other half you'd immediately profusely apologise. Unless you didn't really care...
After you told her the first time not to do it again, that should have been enough. Either she can't control herself or she's doing it deliberately (to provoke some sort of reaction). If it's the former, you can be sure it won't stop, and it'll probably get worse. If it's the latter, she'll stop when she gets the reaction from you that she wants.
For your sake, I hope I'm wrong, so in your position I'd be inclined to give her one last chance. If it happens again, get out of there. The mental is strong with this one.

OP, I think this is a control thing. Do you know much about her background? Are there issues of control, or trust in her family? Either way, all that knowledge will give you is a "why". You'll see from my other posts that I'm all for being reasonable, counselling etc. In this case, you're 22 and she is testing you. That won't stop - you'll just go on trying to prove yourself worthy, or having regular bust-ups. IMHO, you're better off out of it. Sorry.
