According to a post last April, his partner was about to have a kid, hence the reason he was upgrading from a 1 series to a 3 series.
A 3 series that he was buying "I have just put down a deposit", which contradicts the "my BMW company car" story, granted it COULD be funded by a car allowance, but I doubt it.
