Judging by what I've see on TV of late and walking around London it seems pocket squares are making a bit of a come back (or perhaps it's that I'm more aware and spotting them).

I bought a few some months back (plain and patterned) and have been wearing them to work (and in the evenings outfit permitting) on a regular basis with an overwhelmingly positive response.

I think they're great. Always nice to be able to add a flash of colour or individuality to an outfit (but then I also like wearing ties). In addition I've seen them work well with more casual outfits.

Anyone else a fan?

How do you wear them?

Any pics?

I cheat. Most of my jackets' breast pockets have a fancy lining, so I just pull that up a bit. Works a treat if you're lazy, like me.

I've got a special Photoshop filter that unscrambles that mosaic effect.

It's a bit hit & miss sometimes but it does work.

Is this you?

Yep!

Mainly in the evening with chinos and a jacket. Find it a bit "too much" on a suit and tie, special occasions excepted.

I tend to pick a colour out of something in my outfit (e.g. socks, trousers/sweater, jacket's buttonhole, jacket's stripe or check pattern etc.) and match the main colour of my pocket square to that.
Usually "puff fold" it, unless I want a more formal look in which case it's a flat fold.

And remember, never match your pocket square to your tie!!

Is ming the merciless's pocket square a bit half way there?

Should it either be wider or in an elaborate shape to show his dastardly flamboyance?

I like to wear one, but my office environment doesn't really facilitate it so its normally nice evenings out or formal events.

Great way to add a splash of colour to an outfit though!

You certainly should wear one anyway.

Just because your 'office environment' is entirely deficient in elegance doesn't mean you shouldn't dress in a dapper way, adding sophistication and positivity to your workplace.

Likewise. yes

Choice will depend on shirt/tie/jacket colour (and pattern).

Mine:

Missing a decent red one though (and classic white linen).

They go very well with my current wardrobe (tweed, worsted) but I've seen them used to good effect with linen jackets also. Something to consider come summer time.

LordGrover Ming, never really considered using the pocket lining in such a way!

yes

There seems to be a vogue amongst my colleagues to not even bother with ties any more. frown

Owing to the nature of my work however, sleeves are often rolled up to the elbows which makes double cuffed shirts somewhat impractical.
