Do you have an emergency go bag?

Does guy stockpiling food/water have any weapons stored too? If not, all he's doing is storing supplies for the toughest guy on his street.
Yes most of these people who prep do have weapons, but also they plan to bug out to a safer location. Yes you could say some go a bit too far. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZ6wzofxJeo

You are too weak to take on the troll, you have been bummed.
Command ? DRINK WHISKY.
Good call, if you're going to get bummed you may as well have a drink.

At the airport check-in this lass was loaded up with bags and I had a shoulder bag for a week in Greece and she said ' I wish I could travel like that '.
Its become a mission objective to travel light. ( Still took too much tho ! )
Good thread. Living in Wellington New Zealand, we have a 'Go Bag' which is in the car and supplies at home.
The bag has the following (from what I can remember).
Two Belgian Army Canvas Poncho's - which when joined can make a tent!
Water - 2 Litres
Torches
Matches
Penknife
Wind-up Radio
Spare Shoes
Gaffa Tape
T-shirts
Cash
First Aid Kit
and some other stuff…
In the house we have
60 litres of stored water
7 days worth of dried food
tinned food
+ a repeat of the above list.
So if the 1 in 10 chance of a +7.0 earthquake happens on the Wellington Fault, hopefully we can a. be a little safer and b. do some good to help others.

Waste of time.
Someone with a gun will take it from you on D + 1. Then bum your dog.
Yep. In a total societal collapse, what you want is a shotgun and a lot of shells. Preferably a group of similarly equipped mates. Then you survive by ripping off the preppers and anyone else you need to.Someone with a gun will take it from you on D + 1. Then bum your dog.
Anything that isn't total collapse can be remedied with a water bottle and bag of food. Just walk to the nearest civilised place, and use your credit card.
Some of the kits described so far look like a rape kit with some additional b&e toys.... So while you get bummed by the zombie trolls, I'll move into my local Tesco and defend 'my stuff' with the shotgun.

So am I just a paranoid idiot or do you keep a go bag, if so what do you have in yours?
The oddest omission from your list is a couple of pairs of underpants. Socks, but no pants. I'd need a few pairs of those in my kit. Probably brown ones.100ft of paracord.

I think I'm the weird one though. I'd hate to have stuff stockpiled for the Apocalypse - it just makes you a target. It won't take long for a gang to turn up and relieve you of it all. After which they'll no doubt chop you up and start the BBQ.

Thats fine, right up to the point someone shoots you for trying to steal their stuff. pablo said:
Just out of interest, how many people with first aid kits packed in these emergency bags have done any first aid training in the last few years?
Interesting how it has changed over the years. My first course include tourniquets and writing the time of the last blood letting in blood on the casualties forehead. But then I have no bag, only my kitchen drawer.
I can't think of any emergency here in the UK where I would need to leave my house in such a hurry that a pre-packed emergency survival bag would be of benefit.
When travelling in the car when snow is forecast, I'll carry a collapsible snow spade, some water, some emergency food, torch, warning triangle, blanket, etc., but that's just common sense. And on a continental cruise in the TVR I'll carry enough spare parts to almost be able to build a sister car, as they are hard to source.
I guess it's all down to planning for likely scenarios.

- A snow spade when driving in snow - likely.
- Carrying obscure fuses, relays, throttle cable, and other hard-to-find spares when driving abroad - sensible.
- The stuff the OP has in his bag - WTF?
