Do you have an emergency go bag?

I can't think of any emergency here in the UK where I would need to leave my house in such a hurry that a pre-packed emergency survival bag would be of benefit.
Only thing I can think of is maybe a gas leak, they might exacuate residents while they investigate it or maybe someone running around with a gun like the Raoul Moat situation NinjaPower said:
I think in our sanitised and pre-packaged society people simply forget that food and water is all around us. For example I shot 2 Pheasants last weekend and ate them. They were yummy
It's alright for you country types but I've no idea how I'd find a pheasant to kill. I'd have to head down the nearest zoo or animal rescue centre and eat whatever I can butcher in there.heyhomes said:

I think we discussed this recently in another thread (zombies?) and a few of us agreed the only real safe way to bug out of the UK is to get the biggest boat possible and drift as far away from land as possible!
ARE YOU INSANE? There will be zombies hiding somewhere on the boat. Ayahuasca said:

In it are: Candles, matches, torch, radio, batteries, calor gas containers, calor gas cooker, a few dozen cans of decent food, water, tow rope, jump leads, WD40, gaffer tape etc.
Probably sad, but true.

Where you are - no, not really sad. There's far too many people who go out into the country that go underprepared. Not a problem when things are ok, but falling over and breaking a leg etc. and they're going to be in big problems. In it are: Candles, matches, torch, radio, batteries, calor gas containers, calor gas cooker, a few dozen cans of decent food, water, tow rope, jump leads, WD40, gaffer tape etc.

Nothing sad about that. That's being prepared for things that might actually happen in the place where they might happen. In fact, if you're in an area that's prone to power cuts then you might even want to add a small portable generator to that list (although obviously it won't fit in the drawer). It's no different to carrying charts, life jackets and flares in a boat.
By contrast, I'm still struggling to understand why the OP needs a bag containing the things it contains, immediately available to hand, to be presumably grabbed during a speedy exit from his house at zero notice.

Exactly and that exactly 500quid is the right amount! It's no different to carrying charts, life jackets and flares in a boat.

Could you just imagine it if he needed £501?!
That said, having a bit of money out of the bank somewhere in case something goes wrong is pretty sensible (problems with servers etc).
Always handy to have some spare cash around. My bank canceled my card and was handy having some cash while I waited for a replacement. That said, having a bit of money out of the bank somewhere in case something goes wrong is pretty sensible (problems with servers etc).

But that's a world away from having it in a bag that you can grab at zero notice.
