Festive cheer thread
Discussion
I'm doing the final round of shopping at the market tomorrow. The MiL has everything prepared and I'm off for some gluehwein tomorrow evening. Trip back to the UK has been planned so I can celebrate a late Christmas with my family again.
I have also been offered some work (been jobless since October) that has nothing to do with my usual employment, with more forthcoming if the client is happy. Unexpected money around Christmas is always a bonus!

I love Christmas
I finished work last Friday and won't be back until the 5th of January.
All my shopping for presents is done.
I seem to be surrounded by loads of nice festive food and drink no matter which friends house I go to.
Looking forward to spending a few days with family.
Just spending my weeks off tinkering with cars and enjoying myself generally.
Been on a few great nights out with work colleagues and mates.
What's not to like?

Between projects at work so had time to head home early and see the family. Spent today playing with my 9 month old niece and seeing my grandparents. Spending the weekend in Bruges with the other half and then back home on xmas eve.
First time in a few years that I've actually felt in a festive spirit!

Love Christmas too.
Will finish work on Friday and have my twin nephews to look after for the run up next week ( 7 years old ) so still believe bless them. Will take them on a road trip on Monday consisting of a good dog walk followed by KOC for dinner as they call it.
Nice to have little ones around at this time, daughter is 17 wont be cool for her.
New years is always a bit of an anticlimax for me.
Happy Christmas all.

There are few miserable threads on here for the festive period, my burglary one for a start
But fk it it's Christmas so there you go, I'm going to do my best to enjoy mine!
If there's another thread running lock this if not
And what a great attitude to have dust your self off and get on with it , not many would have the resilience. But fk it it's Christmas so there you go, I'm going to do my best to enjoy mine!

My little girl is 2 years old and only just old enough to appreciate Xmas. I've tried really hard not to put anything on the credit card this year and bought a massive dolls house 2nd have from a work colleague which she is going to adore.
For the first time since forever (I'm 26) there's nothing I actually want for Christmas - I just want to see my daughters excitement unfold during the day.

Got a Madness gig tomorrow, 2 more nightshifts and then i'm off until 5th - ya dancer!
Got Mrs Chimp's big sis, her hubby and their 4 month old daughter coming to stay for 2 weeks on Monday so it will be a different xmas this year - no sitting around in my pants playing xbox
Going next door for Hogmanay, got a lads all day sesh on 27th, shaping up nicely.
Might try and fit in a cycle or two and take the mutt for a decent wander too.

So many posts on PH every December are so anti Christmas it's good to read of some festive spirit. I know it must exist but the number of grumpy buggers seems somewhat disproportionate at times.
For me it's a bit of family time, a bit of magical time (young children, so a thick set bearded man in heavy clothing breaks in and leaves deposits in the lounge on Christmas Eve night still), some nice food and drink and a chance to watch a bit of TV. I don't get wound up by the commercial side of it, or the way it's on the High Street from September onwards. I make it work for me, and get out of Christmas what I want. And generally, that's a nice time.
