Cash, credit card and spare passport, what else does one need, one can buy what one needs when one gets there.

I asked SWMBO to get a different perspective on this.
Her question was if we were both leaving or she was going alone.
I said alone.
She will take her handbag, my wallet, her meds, and her tingletip!

Damn! My working class origins exposed for what they are!

Reminds me of this.... 'Good luck'

Are you one of the Gestapo officers Geeks?
No but my forged papers are better than yours it would seem smile
As I recall the reply was 'Thank you' Cue scenes of utter chaos on the streets, escapers running all over.

My go bag is fairly well padded out with £50 notes, probably about £495,000 worth. Its also got a reasonable amount of £10 and £20 notes in case I have the somewhat unlikely need of a peasants services.
Middle class people don't carry large quantities of cash. You've been rumbled.

Bits of paper will be worth feck all too

You need a big bag of silver Britannias, some 1/4 oz gold Britannias, some Sovereigns and a few 1 oz Britannias or Krugers

Gem stones are even better due to portability and concealment benefits

Your half a million pounds of pretend paper money wont even get you half a dead rabbit to eat if the st hits the fan

Back in the day I worked on disaster recovery for a major utility.
The consensus was that the time between total loss of power & water and civil unrest was less than 48 hours.

In Vietnam, whilst the war was on, my grandad prepared for each one of his kids a little bag to take with them if for any reason they needed to move out quickly. In it was food, water and a small amount of gold so they had cash to get by.
