There's two of you in that position in this thread, so maybe not so unusual!I think couples are having children later in life for many reasons, and it's also more popular to 'start again' in a second marriage - I'm 46 with children aged 5 & 7 and step-children aged 15, 16 and 18. I certainly don't feel old when I pick up from primary school or attend events there, and I'm pretty sure that it's mostly parents rather than grandparents picking up.
My 5 wonderful kids from my marriage are 25-8..... And my girlfriend's baby is 12 weeks. All the kids get on fabulously, and all their friends get on so well with us too, ......and I still feel in my 30's.... No problemo. I am under fifty tho (just!).
For those thinking it, it's an emphatic "yes", I have stopped reproducing now!

My old man was born in 1939, I was born in 1974. When I was a kid, I always seemed to have oldest Dad out of my peers - he was 35 when I was born. I was always keen to have kids at a younger age, and we have a son born when I was 29, our second when I was 30.
I'm lucky that 80quattro Snr. is still with us and has a close relationship with his grandkids, something that I never had.
