Dc is mum ok ?
Yes, thanks, AO. Unable to deal with the food in the old folks' home any more, she checked herself out and went home. I forgot to ask how she made the three hundred yards uphill to the house from the old folks' home but I guess one of her friends gave her a lift. She didn't tell my brother or me she was doing it so that we wouldn't worry. Plus, she has refused the carers she is entitled to but does have the District Nurse and the physiotherapist coming in every day until she's fit. She's a lot tougher than she gave herself credit for.

She's from the Make Do And Mend generation. They get by.

I awoke 2 hours late, as another night with dreadful heartburn and stomach churning n' gurgling. That's 3 in a row, I never get heartburn. I grow-up on a diet of hot and spicy food and have never had a problem.

There came a time in my life when I could no longer eat any amount of anything I chose. Then heartburn arrived with a vengeance. Now I have to avoid too much sugar, too much fat and big meals.

For me, moderation beat heartburn.

Easy cure that works.
Get out of bed and take one small teaspoon of Bicarbonate of Soda in a glass mixed with some water. Go back to bed, you will burp a few times but heartburn will be gone.

I have done this for years and am OK.

In Venezuela, they keep 1kg bags of it behind the bar and serve it as a White Lightning.

Now and again Bicarb is okay and it does get rid of bloats , but don't use it too much ,it has long term effects apparently.

Excellent. When Karak reported his had arrived Karaked, I was very concerned about the mugs' ability to travel.

The office landlord has had gaggles of blokes in to pretty the place up. The two painters were the most amiable, helpful guys imaginable. Lousy painters, but such nice blokes. They did the downstairs toilets and as much of the corridors as you can see from the main entrance. We suspect the pretty up is for the benefit of prospective tenants. The flooring chaps are very competent but are having a struggle with the undulating terrain and leaking plumbing. They will return to finish off I feel sure. Having finished at the urinal just now in the decorated and partly re-floored toilet, I zipped up and turned to walk away only to discover my shoes were stuck to the floor. To say I nearly came a frightful cropper is something of an understatement. My reflexes have never been fast but somehow I stayed upright. That could have been nasty. I might have had to round off my report with:

"This is DickyC, for TT Today, face down on a khazi floor in South Glamorgan."
