You quote the dates the MoT and tax ran out you just told us and say you're sorry, you made a mistake, you thought you were safe with the dates but have just found out they are outside the prescribed limits and is there anything that can be done, please?
At that point you haven't identified yourself, the car or the plate.
They are there to help. It's not their job to try and catch you out.
Ah I see, thanks! Am I right in thinking though now that everything is run from beauro central in Swansea and there are no local offices I can go to any more?At that point you haven't identified yourself, the car or the plate.

I suppose I should actually try and track the bloody car down first as well - all the above is dependant on said car's owner being a) traceable and b) co-operative.
I know what the car is and that it actually still exists (no record of scrapping or export so presumably on SORN mouldering away in a front garden somewhere).
Its a 1993 Clio so there can't be many of them left.... but it's a big old country with no guarantee the car is still local to the area code on the plate....
Taking step daughter #2 to Somerset to look at a MkII Audi TT this morning. I have the address and post code and I've been reading AA Route Finder and fiddling with my phone to try and get it to act as a SatNav in place of the TomTom which I have but I find cumbersome.
Then I looked it up on the map. Old school. I should have done that first.
Leave M5 at Junction 22. Turn right at the roundabout. Turn left by the Fox and Goose and it's the third turn on the right.
Technology. I tell ya.

Ride done. I'm now off to the garage to scrub off the oil of what was probably the dripped and now hardened life blood of an Austin A40, before I paint it. I'm tempted to use a solvent, but instead purchased litres of ecologically friendly low vol citrus cleaner/degreaser. I'll have arms like Popeye before i'm done (but hopefully a clean floor).
