As it's the Anniversary on Thursday 30th July, but the Official Birthday on Saturday 1st August, there is an opportunity here for a three day satellite linked - loud hailing - keeping quiet - visiting - travelling - staying at home - mobile phoning - meeting in various pubs - public - private - generally plastered knees up.

With Chinese Hats.

Anyone thought of this?
Goddammit, I'm in Hockenheim that weekend irked

She probably wanted to try and get back together with you. You were supposed to be jealous of her wonderful new life, realise how awful your new life is and beg to be taken back.

Fortunately you seem to have told her to bugger off.

used to be a saddo that chatted to the school bus driver. We had a few regular double decker buses that were used - some Leyland DAF's, some Volvos, one double-rear axle Leyland DAF, and 3 Leyland-DAFs with Volvo engines in and mysteriously dysfunctional limiters...

I saw 70 on the clock doing down a B road hill in one of the last 3. Apparently it was originally meant to be doing routes including some motorways between stops...

There was one bus that was specced for North Wales and couldn't get above 50 but it'd go up hills all day at 50 instead of slowly crawling up at about 20 with the driver trying to kick-down all he could.
We used to have a Leyland Tiger at a previous employer. It had started life as a coach, and was rebodied as a service bus. So, a coach-spec chassis and drivetrain, and a lightweight alloy bus body. And the speed limiter was broken.

Never did work out the top speed, the numbers on the speedo stopped at 80mph.
Back in the late 80's my dad was coach driving, they had a contract to do the national expres service from Leeds to Poole. The contract specified that they had to average 70mph for the journey including driving through the centres od Leeds, Bradford, Coventry etc. They had a special coach for that job, it had the lightest body they could find and the most powerful engine they had. It would cruise all day at about a ton, he said they almost never got overtaken on that trip biggrin

By the way I am officially back from cloggie land.
4 TVR's 500 miles and unfortunately 1 breakdown (not me) but luckily his car didnt break until the last day.
Lots of driving around in the sunshine with the top down, a visit to the best motor museum I have ever been to
(the Louwman Museum in the hague) a cracking air museum and some nice beer.

I went to Louwman last year.

Looks quite small from outside but it just goes on .

Great place.

Cars you never see for sale thread.

People are posting cars with total production of about 5.

I wonder why they're not for sale very often ?

Not my life, but my fathers. This happened to him on the way home from work (merc w124)

thankfully it was barely a third of the mile away from home and he was driving rather slow in a residential area. Had it have happened 3minutes earlier it would have been on an A-road at higher speeds. He's a mechanic so sorting it out wont be an issue for him.
