off the the NHM on Tuesday with our kids, six and eight years old. I believe there's a bunch of free things to see in the galleries then attractions that need to be booked. I haven't been since I was a kid so has anyone who's been recently got any recommendations.

Thanks.

Not been for years, then took my daughter this summer. To be honest, there's plenty to keep you occupied without paying for extras & there's always the V&A and the science museum if you feel you've done it all.

We were there on a Saturday in June & you could walk up to the paid stuff if you wanted. I wouldn't worry about it really.

If you still can there were small behind the scenes tours in the Darwin wing, absolutely fascinating and memorable to see some of the exhibits in storage and things being prepped for display.

Stupidly busy whenever I've been in recent years. Was going to pop in after skating last winter, but went to the science museum instead, which was nice as we could actually walk around it at our pace.

I'm not sure if the Natural History Photographer of the Year competition exhibition has started yet but this normally has a 2 for 1 entry if you travel by rail. Other exhibitions may do the same. Check out http://www.daysoutguide.co.uk/2for1-london

Wildlife Photographer of the Year is an additional cost exhibit. Not sure how much the kids (at their age) would enjoy it (though it was excellent).

Plenty to keep the kids occupied without that though (Blue whale hall, dinosaurs, creepy crawlies, human section). Plus, the Science Museum is just down the road. smile

I'd pop round the corner to The Science Museum as well, loads of stuff for kids to do there.

Yep, agree with that one. I actually prefer that over the Natural.

Perfect cheers, I hadn't considered that and sounds like a great idea.

The dinosaurs gallery is free but it's worth booking in advance (at no cost) as this will allow you to jump the sometimes enormous queues
