Here now, working up until 2pm Xmas Eve, back in to business as usual on 27th. Half day New Year's Eve and Sunday hours on New Year's Day.

The glamourous world of automotive retail...

I'm working up to Christmas Eve (hopefully get away around lunchtime), then back in on 29th, off the 30th, back in for the morning (hopefully) of 31st, and in the 2nd.

Only got the 29th off because I have booked a day's holiday.

Still, it's better than having to work the night shift on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing day, and then New Years Eve and New Years day as I have in the past. So glad I left that job.

I shall be in the office on the same days as the blokes in the OP. Normal working days in my game. Many people will be on leave of course, but I prefer to take my holiday in the summer.

I love working around the Xmas/New Year period, much quieter and less work to do. Early finishes too on the eves. I usually use the time to plan my trips for next year biggrin

p.s. I'm a contractor and don't get paid on days off.

I'll be working every day over the Christmas period apart from Christmas Day itself.

I actually don't mind this at all. It can be very productive.

Wifey is working nights on Christmas Eve, she has Christmas Day off (recovering from nights), Boxing Day and the 27th - back to work on earlies on the 28th. She's fallen lucky this year with shifts.

Normal finishing time on the 24th, back on the 29th-31st, again on the 2nd.

Are we needed, no. Not even allowed to be on standby, phones and email access at the ready.

It's going to be a long long few weeks.

I'm in every day that isn't a bank holiday. I did choose to work this year though, they normally rotate it and I've had the last 2 years off.

Plus:

We'll get to go by 2pm on Weds
the commute will be lovely next mon, tues & weds, might even go the back way for a change
there won't be much work to do anyway

I'm not upset by being in!

Pack up at 1pm (in reality if anyone is doing much still by 11 other than a very few it will be a first) on Wednesday and then away until 9am on the 5th January.

Most other firms are on the same timescales, although there are a few closing up midday tomorrow...

The next 2 weeks will be the same as the last 2 weeks. I get days of work but will be in as per normal and all day Christmas day

But that's the job I took and new the hours so just get on with it
But not office work

Best time of year for getting stuff done. No users or distractions - bliss.
I'll take double time off in lieu when it suits me though. smile

I'll be working through (apart from the public holidays), because;

- xmas day/boxing day on Thur/Fri so thats 4 days with the weekend, which is plenty for xmas
- i'd rather save my holiday for the summer and spend it outside/on a beach/in a beer garden
- the roads are really quiet so my commute is more fun
- not much going on in the office, so i get to do real work instead of dreary management admin crap

Very similar to me, offshore Norway until the 30th. Back to Spain just before midnight on that day. New Year & Reyes at home - thunder & lightning permitting.

Was due off the 30th but they have shifted core crew flight forward a day. Where in Spain are you?

10 days on call for me. Happy with that as I don't have to use any annual holidays and I get almost 2 weeks off work. Just praying I don't get called in!
