Nine more days off work, wish I was back now. My girlfriend goes back to work tomorrow so I'll have nothing to do with myself.

You lot of miserable gits, I love Christmas, the more the merrier its a great family time, I don't give a st about the commercial aspects, rarely even turn the box on, stagger from one meal and drink to the next, sad when it's over.......
This sort of st attitude is what annoys me. "YOU MUST ENJOY IT BECAUSE I SAY SO AND MY LIFE IS GREAT!"
bks.

I tend to ignore the whole xmas and new year thing, no xmas shopping, no expense, no hassle, no stress. Just normal days for me to catch up with some computer work without any interuptions. Wife spends the day with her family and they are so enthusiastic about it all.

Don't get the point of putting up a tree and stuff, never have. For what?

Great days for running and cycling too as it's so lovely and peaceful out and about in the mornings.

An entire week spent driving up and down the country, to sit in other people's houses doing nothing. Would much rather be left alone at home, quite frankly.

biggrin Seriously?

On FB, I'm seeing photos of my friends all dressed up having fun. I'm seeing photos of my friends' children all dressed up. You know what, I might be grumpy about things but I "like" the photos because they're people I care about and am glad they're happy.

If you just regard it as a day then its fine. If you use it to meet friends and family its fine. If you big it up too much it fails your expectations. For us its about the family coming home. The daughter at uni etc.
These times are special. Some friends of ours lost their daughter some years ago. You never know how long you or your loved ones have so its best to make the most of them.

Then of course Christmas can mark important events. Miranda has finished thankfully.

Just watch Grumpy Old Men at Christmas - that sums up what most are saying. The forced jollity, the creep of Christmas from Oct - Nov, etc

Saying that; its the only time I really drink and eat more than I should. What is depressing is once New Year has gone Jan/Feb are the 2 most miserable months of the year.

Yep, although in fairness I was not in a good place at the time. I'm enjoying my detox from it if I'm honest...... Although I'm now posting on here more laugh
