I carry a leatherman type multitool with me, it was a gizzet from a project I worked on some years ago and has lasted well despite having no brand name on it.

I am surprised that some people don't carry anything like this around, what would you do if you found a horse with a stone in its hoof ?
I was thinking more about the times when one's quill pen needs attention.

These tools are very useful, though. My colleagues and friends often borrow mine.

My Leatherman Crunch is compact and has a pair of locking pliers (like Mole Grips) which are a great idea.

I have a Leatherman Wave, but I can't carry it as the blades lock in place.

I do have it about my person at certain times at work for opening boxes, assembling equipment and so on, but in the main it lives underneath my coffee table.
Same. keep it in my work bag.

It would be some sort of ahole copper that would arrest you for having a Leatherman tool that happens to have a locking blade on it.

Both gifts, both used most days.

Several others which are not suitable for UKEDC.

There's a topic running here too: click.

Well, seeing as carrying a knife with a hoofstone remover is against the law, sadly the only option would be to shoot it with the small gun I keep down my sock.

I have a bottle opener that lives on my keyring (from a police road safety campaign stragely) but that's the only thing that goes with me everywhere. Swiss Army Camper usually goes in a bag when I'm away though, very useful to have a pair of scissors and a cork screw. Proper toolkit on the bike though so I don't bother with a multitool.

I carry a Leatherman Wave all the time at work as a field based engineer as it gets used lots, but would never carry it when I'm not working. I could hopefully class it as a tool when I'm working and get away with it but not so much when just out at the shops.
