Indeed. And the only people getting 'rabid' and 'semi hysterical' appear to be those with tattoos who, ironically, 'don't give a shyte what other people think' apparently.

Lots and lots of things are discussed on PH, should we only allow people who like something to discuss it, or does that just apply to tattoos? confused

I've got a mate who's got barb wire tattoos on each bicep and a Taz on his calf, both of these tattoos were done in the mid 90's and at the time he thought they were "super cool" I recently spoke to him about his tattoos and he really doesn't think they are super cool anymore, in fact once he can afford it he wants to try and get them removed.

I predict that in a few years time there will be major advances in tattoo removal making it easier/cheaper to remove them and people will be queuing up to have them removed once "their tastes change" There will also be people making a serious amount of money from removing tattoos.

I can see an opportunity there scratchchin

A good friend is a tattooist, his shop have clicked in early and also offer tattoo removal. So they make money off the people that think it's cool and money off those who regret it. Win win for the business.

Maybe we're getting fed up of the same old tedious drivel trotted out in every thread that is either about tattoos, refers to tattoos, or mentions them???

I guess I could get into every discussion then, just to say that I don't like the subject matter, haven't got it/one/some, would never get it/one/some etc etc

You never see people go to a Ford Escort thread and say 'I can understand why some people might like them, but I'd never buy one"

As someone pointed out earlier, this isn't a thread about tattoos, this is a thread about attitudes to tattoos. So for your analogy to work it would need to be a thread about attitudes to Ford Escorts, not a Ford Escort thread.

Okay, so if the thread I pertain to was called 'Are Ford Escorts chavvy?' you would allow my criticism? I could state my dislike and total disinterest in Escorts with impunity? laugh

It wouldn't be up to me to allow or prohibit your criticism, just as it isn't up to anyone here to allow or prohibit anyone's criticism of tattoos.

I trust you are by now seeing what I am getting at.

Whoever develops a Tattoo system where with a certain method they can be painlessly, completely and quickly reset, like an Etch a Sketch (perhaps not by shaking the tattoed person, but you get the idea) they will make a fortune, so you can have your massive back full of childishly drawn Ford Escorts and then just remove them when you realise how st they are, that person will make a fortune.

I love the individuality shown by the footballers, who in the last couple of years have all decided to have full sleeves, or the middle aged ladies who presumably have wanted ivy tattooed on her feet since they were 18, but somehow have waited 30 years to get it done, or the girls who decided, without being influenced by Cheryl, that a scribble on the side of the hand would be a real symbol of how 'different' they are.

It's fashion, but you can put your hipster jeans and bobble hats away when they've gone naff - you can't disguise the stars behind your ears or the pointless latin statement on the side of your neck (you know the one that DJ Original has got) on your daughters wedding day photo.

Chap I saw in town recently, walking hand in hand with his two little daughters had 'F**K IT' on the back of his neck. Now he maybe the nicest chap in the world, but if I was sitting behind him in a Nativity concert, I would be thinking that he's probably a wrong 'un, and I'm pretty confident that about 95% of people would think so too.

I drink I a very nice country pub but there is one dimwit who has a swastika tattooed on his neck. (he must be about 60)
I just ignored him and looked at him with scorn (my father was a slave labourer in Germany), I really had to bite my tongue not to say something to the ignorant kant.

However he must have got the message (or other people had a word with him) as the swastika has changed to an Iron Cross.

A small improvement but he is still a ladies front bottom to me.

He'd argue the Swastika is from ancient times, but we all know exactly why he had it done originally...
