Out with a lady friend at the weekend discussing the upcoming shoot for Jurassic World to in Minley Woods (subject to confirmation)
Apparently, the dinosaurs were "cologned" by Jeff Goldblum. She then corrected herself and said it was David Attenborough.
Had visions of them running around the woods with an atomiser full of fruit spray chasing dinosaurs...

Not my Mrs, but her friend. Sniffing the air in the pub, she asked out loud, "Is there a funny smell in here, or is it just me?" confused

Gutted, until last year I lived in Minley woods, would have been epic watching that being filmed!

Any more details?

You lived IN Minley Woods???

Anyway, as much detail as I know...

At the end of February, the initial set build crew arrived and set up a Herras fence around most of the top part of Hawley Woods. The large open area known locally as "the airfield" is being scraped back by an excavator, and they will be laying turf, and creating a driveway on it. This will in turn lead to "the front elevation of a large house" which is to be built from timber and scaffolding. Further down the hill, toward the lake (possibly in "the bear pit" where Bond {Die Another Day} and Johnny English have been filmed) a rear elevation of the house will be built. The scene will apparently involve members of the cast fleeing from the house in response to "a dramatic event" with the scene enhanced by adding visual effects in post production. I won't identify my source, but suffice to say he was on the inside of the temporary fence and remarkably chatty.

There are plenty of the familiar triangular 'film set direction arrows' around. and there are signs advising of footpath closures around the site. The working title of the production is "Ancient Futures", and "AF" is the location shorthand used on the direction arrows. There's a security presence at the bottom of the hill by the lake, at the barrier into the training area from the sailing club car park. So the barrier is open all day with site security preventing unauthorised vehicle access. All other rights-of-way are open as normal, and military training carries on as usual outside the set perimeter. I'm told that filming will not take long here - possibly a two week period toward the end of March to mid April.

There is also another location, up at the old NGTE site (now Hartland Park) near Fleet Pond. This is a night time only set, involving a helicopter and pyrotechnics. There is the predictable moaning and NIMBYisms from Pondtail residents in the posh lakeside houses. They say "won't somebody consider the effect on the wildlife" when what they really mean is that they don't want noisy night time helicopter operations interrupting their enjoymeny of Newsnight and Question Time.

A lot of it is a matter of public record, as temporary planning permission applications detail what the production company have asked for permission to do up there.

Currently there's very little to see. Last week the fence was 'undressed' and it was just a muddy mess with men in plant wearing hard hats digging and dumping spoil, with a large stack of timber. Today I went past, and they've screened the fence with fabric cable-tied to it. It's not completely blacked out, but is now harder to see into the set. Unlike the Bond films, there isn't (yet, at least) a 'heavy mob' security presence of mean looking fat men in black bomber-jackets.

Recent(ish) films that have had sets in the area include Avengers - Age Of Ultron https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=avengers+age+of+... , Criminal, and Rush. Sahara filmed the opening credits section on the lake itself. Lots of TV series film scenes here too. And as luck would have it (NOT!) my camera finally gave up the ghost as I tried to take a few pictures of the set last week, so I have nothing visual to share other than...

White outline is the driveway and front elevation set, and production offices in Portakabins.
Blue is possibly the rear elevation set (I've not seen this side though, so may not be the case)
Yellow is the vehicle access routes they are using, the security guy stationed in a car or van at the gate circled.

Possibly completely unrelated, but rumour locally has it that Tom Hardy (Taboo amongst other things) was seen in The Crown And Cushion pub barely half a mile from the set this week.

I just wish they'd hurry the fk up and go away. Currently some of the best downhill single track MTB trails on the Hawley side are fully, or partially fenced off by the crew. Pretty annoying now that spring seems to have sprung and the trails are drying out and riding well... frown

And here's the Die Another Day set...

We argued last night, the wife and I.

I was on the computer, posting on here, and some other forums I'm part of, as well as using a mapping site to plan a bike ride. She was in bed, asleep.

She woke up needing a trip to the toilet. Fair one, no problem, when she had a snipe about how late it was for me to be posting on the internet. But the next bit had me confused...

"You're keeping me awake, tippy-tapping on that bloody keyboard,"

"Eh? You were fast asleep, I turned the TV off and you didn't even know I'd been in the room."

"Well it keeps me awake"

"It doesn't though, does it? If you were asleep and all before you got up to go to the loo..."

No amount of working through the logic of it came up with any conclusion other than "you tapping away on that computer keeps me awake" despite the fact that she was so deeply asleep that I got no response at all when I kissed her on the forehead and apologised for staying up too late, not 15 minutes later as I got into bed myself.

And yet I still feel like the villain of the piece even now, trying to work out what I can do to make it up to her when she gets in from work tonight...

And here's the Die Another Day set...

Pretty much, yeh, we were surrounded by the woods on 3 sides, old MOD building sold at auction that we did up.

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Camberley+GU17...

Thanks for that, intesting information, spent half my life in those woods and by the lake so know the areas well, and knew avengers was filmed there while I lived there, that was interesting.

Update with pics if you get any (perhaps a different/new thread though)

Sounds like she doesn’t want you using the internet so late, maybe she thinks you should be sleeping. So she makes up some bullst excuse to guilt you into turning it off. It doesn’t have to make sense, it’s designed to make you feel bad.

You know what, I get exactly the same thing. I'm lying there, thinking I'm trying to get to sleep, but she thinks I'm snoring. It's been going on for years. I can't imagine any reason why she'd do this for 20 years without it being real, so I have to conclude that there is some kind of state I can be in, in which my mind thinks it's awake but the body's asleep and the mind doesn't know the body is snoring. Or something.

A few years ago I was installing the new kitchen at home and having some real trouble getting the integrated washing machine to sit right with the other doors etc. The wife walked in and asked what was wrong, I told her, she grabbed the spirit level off the worktop, placed the base of it on the face of the washer door, moved the spirit level itself until the bubble was in the middle then turned to me and said "What's wrong with that? It looks fine to me" rolleyes

You are all so new at this lark !
Have you not realised yet that even if they dream that you have done a deed it is 100% true that you have .Even CCTV evidence and sworn affidavit from the pope will not convince them otherwise.

+1

I have been wondering the same. I snore like a bar steward (I've heard the recordings, yeah, cheers....) plus it takes me an age to get off. A few occasions recently I've received elbows and tellings off, but as far as I can tell I'm awake!

She's obviously not mad (well, as not mad as anyone possessing a vagina can be) but neither am I. I can only conclude therefore that I have been in a nodding off, but still conscious transitional state.
