never posted an image yet on here: I've gone to rather a lot of effort for this. So here are my council holiday snaps.

Hmmmm (best lloyd grossman voice) Who lives in a house like this ?

A kitchen.

The driveway, made from wardrobe doors.

vans as storage sheds anyone ?

garden. yes the brown things are what yr thinking they are. And yes that's what the children play amongst. incidentally this was escalated to social services on finding it.

to the kitchen now.

note the friendly dog, where the cat is sat and the polished wood flooring.

mmmmmm: I fancy a swim.

thought about taking my old carpet to the tip but no. its best to see if left outside long enough it will rot into the grass.

what a lovely council holiday that was.

Pre-payment card thing for gas/electricity etc. I'd feel a right scum bag putting 3 quid on one.

My ex was in social services years back in Leicester. She told tales of no carpets or much else, but the biggest TV possible. But her best tale was that the staircase had been chopped up for firewood and replaced with a ladder.
When I was at school one of the lads in my year didn't have a staircase in his council house but it was for a different reason. His parents had removed it and they used a ladder so that when the bailiffs came round, as they did regularly, they'd all retreat upstairs pulling the ladder up with them. Lovely home life he had. Luckily he joined the Navy and escaped from his family.

A friend of mine, who is a social worker, told me they have a rule of thumb - 'the bigger the telly, the bigger the problem'.

Wow. I'll now feel less guilty when I leave a few breadcrumbs on the worktop in the morning...

Got a new one for you all. People who celebrate birthdays/anniversaries/ Darren getting out of jail by daubing a suitable notice on a sheet, tacking it to a fence/lamp post near the town centre, and adding balloons and ribbons to make it obvious.

Sorry no pictures, but lots of awful memories.

what yr missing from my pictures is the sheer stench that surrounds these dwellings.

of course they are the first people to shout "think of the children" !!

honestly if "we" as the landlord don't do "X"--------- then little McKenzie, Barclay, Jaxon, will die/be injured and its our fault.

They never step back and look at how they live- fag ash dripping over the babies head, whilst some vile dog runs riot.

The house with the filthy kitchen- there is a disabled, hoisted, wheelchair dependant child living in that home.

I hasten to add his bedroom and wet room are ok though. rest of the house is a hovel though.

Can't imagine what it must be like to be a child in a lot of these 'homes'. A truly saddening set of images, a shameful record of our 'civilised' society.
