Walking through Benidorm the other day was educational; not really hot, but plenty of pot bellies on view, t-shirts off, but I got to thinking about watches and the lack of in many cases. If there are such things, what watches are "a little bit council"?
Sekonda, anything made by a fashion brand and sold in Argos, fakes, or anything expensive, massive and ostentatious that shouts "I've made loads of money but have fk-all taste".austinsmirk said:
Benidorm is a British Council estate, but abroad.
And I've been.
As for watches: well see the watch thread: I'd say anything other than a simple understated timepiece simply screams "look at me and my shiney stuff with its logo's et al"
Therefore: "Council".
Yeah, would agree there, if it looks like Floyd Mayweather gave it you, its Council, no matter how much it cost. If it is gold then its off to a bad start, if it has any precious stones on it then its getting worse and if it is significantly bigger than its needs to be then you are there, doesnt matter what brand, same at all price levels, a classic Seamaster is about as far as I would go, a really understated vintage one as I dont want to look like an Essex Scrap merchant done good. And I've been.

iWatch, hmm, probably not council yet, but it will be, at the moment it just shouts Apple Fanboy

Funny thing is some of those old 1980s Casios are now turning out to be an investment.
Really? That's interesting. Mines just a black digitalWatch. You can still get them new for under a tenner.
Not wanting to take the thread off topic but I accidentally drove over mine last year. Put it in my pocket when washing the car and it fell out. The wheel pushed it into the gravel and it survived with a couple of scratches to add to the others over thale last 30 years.
Edit:
Bloody hell! I just checked EBay. 60 odd quid. I'll look after it from now on, council or not.

Nope. Lack of involvement (while still whinging) is council.
Absolutely. Also maybe on the edge of council, this.
Voting Labour 'Cos Maggie closed the pit/steelworks/shipyard and fked us all over' It was a valid argument 20 or so years ago but to anyone born after 1984 or so it makes bugger all sense. Unless of course you are some complacent fat arsed Labour MP creaming in the money while doing fk all for the brainless tts in their depressed Northern sthole who voted you in and who will continue to do so.
20 years old, no job because Maggie - who was no longer in power 20 years ago - shut the local coal mine the year before you were born.

Voting Labour and UKIP and having big signs outside your house telling everyone you are doing just that.
Conservative areas don't need signs. You can tell by just assessing the area.5potTurbo said:
I regularly drive past this place and it reminds me of this thread. Satellite dishes galore:
OK, it's not a council estate, but it's the Chateau de Betzdorf in Luxembourg, which just happens to be the home of SES-Astra, the people that bring you Murdoch's (and many others') satellite TV st.
A tooled up Tornado could take that out in seconds. Talk about cause and effect. Trash that and the council estates of the UK would be transformed. Following the inevitable riots the scummers would be forced to learn to read.OK, it's not a council estate, but it's the Chateau de Betzdorf in Luxembourg, which just happens to be the home of SES-Astra, the people that bring you Murdoch's (and many others') satellite TV st.
