Pulling wheelies. Then proceeding down the road as far as possible on the back wheel only. I was reminded of this as I observed the behaviour, expertly demonstrated by two yoots on pushbikes this morning, the kind of angry looking lads I'd have hidden from at school (I was small and ginger).
Sorry but pulling wheelies (as long as it's done casually and for over 100m) is cool......

....or am I showing my council roots getmecoat
yes

Wheelies are cool, I could never do them frown
Hang on, is someone *seriously* suggesting that the ability to pull a wheelie, and the length that said wheelie is held for, is in some way linked to the area in which a person lives or his/her social standing?

Someone PLEASE tell me I need the parrot and that there exists not people with their heads so far up their own arses as to suggest the above.

That's me then. In my experience the wheelie pullers are also the sorts who gob phlegm and spit chewing gum in the street.

Most forms of brash showing off and attempting to demonstrate superior physical abilities in public are very council in my book. Like the geezer who sticks all his gym equipment in his front garden on the A4 in Reading every summer, or the folks that have gym stuff in garages and leave their garage doors open whilst they do their bench presses so everyone can watch and be impressed/scared/both. Same thing as trying to look bling with signet rings and gold chains and all that. It's just showy and naff and council.

You exist!

There *actually* exists someone who thinks pulling a wheelie is an indication of someone's social standing.

Jesus. Christ.

Edit:

The rest of your observations have some merit, but -

Ever considered that someone training in a garage, may wish to have some ventilation, particularly if A) they're training hard and B) the weather is hot.

Speaking as someone who trains, if I had a gym in my garage I'd leave the door open in summer time. Given that the barn I train in gets pretty warm in summer, I'd imagine a garage to be even worse.

You've got issues dude.

No. I don't. I just think it's "a bit council". As per the thread title.

You are naïve in the extreme if you don't think "a bit council" isn't a perception of someone's social standing.

All sorts of people behave in all sorts of manners, some of which are 'a bit council'. In some people's opinions. I thought that was the gist of this light hearted thread? Some things are listed on here which I'm guilty of - they don't define my 'social standing', whatever that is. Are you being a bit over sensitive here?

Sensitive? No.

I just think some of the points you have made are ridiculous, particularly the wheelie comment.

And there was me thinking this was a light hearted bit of fun and not a serious social study paper for Cambridge University. You know, the kind of place where it's OK to make ridiculous comments.

Have a beer, fella.

beer

(But next time you see a teen doing a wheelie down the street, have a look and see if you think he's more likely to end up working at Kwik Fit or going to Cambridge to do that social study paper wink)

A proper 100m wheelie or just popping the front wheel up?

Yes, your right. The wheelie comment is the only ridiculous comment in 147 pages. banghead

Anyway, I aspire to do a decent wheelie, does that mean I aspire to be "a bit council"?

[quote=-crookedtail-]A 'friend' on Facebook is slighty disappointed with the election results biggrin

Got a few of the same on mine.

"Proud Mummies" and their political insights.

Still think the bourgeois lefties are worse. The people with sheltered wealthy upbringings declaring their disgust at Cameron's victory using the same arguments about food banks and the plight of the disabled/poor. I'm happy for them to donate their spare earnings to the council estates of Britain but I'd rather not give away my own.

If it's not already been added to the list I would put forward the Mondeo ST as being council.

I didn't say it was the *only* comment...

It was brought to my attention the other day that there is actually an official term for this, and also explains the number of north London labour constituencies: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Champagne_socialist
