A group of adults going on holiday to Portugal for less than a week, then eating a meal in Pizza Hut.

I was talking to a group earlier who'd done exactly that... I just can't understand it. Fair enough if you've got fussy kids with you and its an 'easy' choice you know they won't complain about, but its bizarre for adults??

They feel "safe". They know what they'll be getting. I know a guy (very council) who took 12 cans of beer with him on holiday every year, in case he didn't like the local stuff. He'd probably have taken more if he could have packed it.

My wife is very fussy and has a sensitive guy,so nearly starved in Morocco when she couldn't /wouldn't eat the local stuff....until we found a decent pizza place.
But then,I ate it and got food poisoning,so maybe she had the right idea. smile

They couldn't even spell 'burgers' correctly let alone use an apostrophe appropriately in 'hosts'.

That red Rover is a bit council. Could do with dark tints, lowered suspension and black wheels of course.

Council is going on holiday to some far flung exotic destination but then spending the whole two weeks eating only food that you get at home, drinking only drink that you get at home, spending all your time with fellow English and not actually seeing the country that you are in.

That's one of my biggest bugbears, people who won't even try 'that foreign muck'.

I worked in Thailand for a while recently, and the guy who I shared an apartment with would order in Shepherds pie and roast dinners, instead of having to face the horrors of Thai cuisine.

I can't understand the mentality of people who will spend thousands of pounds every year to travel to a hotel in the sun, and then spend two weeks never leaving the hotel boundaries and eating the bacon and beans that they've packed to take with them. What is the point?

Because maybe they just want to sit in the sun next to a pool for 2 weeks?

Caravans full stop, towing a box around to live in when there are so many good hotels in the world is beyond daft. Add to that storing a caravan in front of the house for the 50 weeks of the year that you don't use it.

That's the bit that gets me, I was on holiday once, and a (quite council) lady told me there were "plenty of English". No thanks, I don't want to hang out with you. I wouldn't if I was in England, so I'm certainly not going to here!

Also I make sure I eat the local food and drink the local beer at least 50% of the time!

We went to Alghero in Sardinia last August, we organised flights and a privately owned appartment ourselves; no package deal for us, we wanted to experience Alghero as close as possible to how the residents experience it so we ate in their restaurants, shopped in their markets and attempted Italian, however it didn't last long as their English is so good and they wanted to practice it on us.

We happened across one other English family when we did a day boat trip; the husband was a doctor.

Sardinia is currently not a popular UK holiday destination which also made it bloody good value.

Vans towing caravans = the "G" word. Usually with highly-polished wheel trims on the vans. Not really council, but a different culture altogether. They need vans rather than cars because of the gear they carry around for the tarmacing and roof "repairs".

having a car on your drive- well scrap of land, or muddy grass, highways verge - thats worth more than the house you live in.

be it financed, bought outright, or on lease from your main job as a drug dealer.

I say this because whilst on a council estate on friday pm (for work reasons) I saw some scrote driving a bright yellow hummer.

Although by now I accept not worth a fortune and they're not as trendy as they were some 5-7 years ago.

the fake Ford exploxer based ones obviously, not a proper army one.

Also spotted Friday: absolutly huge garden gnome collections.
