Charging your phone and or other devices anywhere other than your own home or location where you pay the bill. A sign in hospital brought this to mind. I've also been told of folks who bring all their devices, and even their family members phones, in to work to charge them.
My only phone is a work phone so I charge it at work, is that ok?

If you've paid for it in the first place, or if your devices are for work use, then fine.

If you are "borrowing" electricity on behalf of your wife or child then no - Council.

That's another while I think about it. I had to explain to an employee recently that "borrowing" without asking and failing to return because you "forgot", is what most people call stealing.
At Glastonbury on Saturday a young inebriated hippy chap asked me "s'scuse me mate, can I borrow some bog roll, I really need a poo!"

He was very polite and was clearly very desperate, so I packed him off in the direction of the long drops with half a roll of Andrex, not wishing to hang about to explain that the concept of borrowing normally implies return after use!

My cleaner (yes, I know, a bit PH-private and all that) plugs her phone in to charge the moment she arrives. As, come to that, do my in-laws. I don't actually mind at all, but the assumption (from the cleaner at least, not so much family) that there's no need to comment or ask does feel rather like bad manners.
My cleaner does exactly the same thing. As soon as she arrives, she plugs both her phone and tablet in to charge. It bugs me no end, but she's good at her job, so I just keep quiet.
Ours was yattering on hers all the time when she was meant to be cleaning which was annoying, we paid for her by the hour, not the hour where she was conducting her private life, you cant clean as effectively when you are holding a mobile, dont mind the odd call but it was long drawn out conversations whilst trying to give the impression she was working.

Walking around town with no top on.

I understand it's hot but that kind of behavior should be reserved for one's home, the beach or the council estate.

I think I've just seen council. Just been for a walk to grab some lunch and there's a family having a picnic by the side of the road/main roundabout for Asda. I know there's a patch of grass there but really? Full on blanket down, basket and kids playing catch.

Absolutely, just saw one of these get the blues and twos, I wondered if it was crimes against 'fashion' he was being done for.

Work phone, used for work, charged at work is fine. You are free to go...

Even borrowing a bit of charge I don't have a problem with, because my understanding of 'borrow' means you ask. As others have highlighted it's the attitude associated with just taking stuff which makes it council.

There's a chap in McD's car park in a newish M5 with his top off, sweating all over the leather seats no doubt.

Double points for no top at McDonald's

I don't think I have ever worked anywhere where the vast majority of people haven't got a charger at their desk.

The idea of it not happening is just bizarre. I would find it 'council' of an employer who prevented it.

Couldn't agree more - sometimes our guys will go above and beyond themselves for the benefit of the company (and their bonus) so I'm pretty happy to let them charge their phones at their desks each day - especially if it's run off the USB from the laptop/PC, surely that doesn't even use extra leccy?
